I visited a travel agent on Sukhumvit earlier today to buy a ticket to Australia. The assistant asked me for some details then started tapping away. Moments later a Thai walked in and started chatting with the assistant about her holiday. That lasted over 5 minutes. The assistant then continued assisting me. Then another Westerner walked in and immediately said "its hot in here!". I agreed and asked the assistant to turn on the aircon. "Aircon broken" came the reply. She had a fan for herself. Then a courier boy turned up. the assistant disappeared to a back office with the documents he presented her, without a "just a minute please" or anything. I waited 10 hot minutes and was about to leave when she returned, so I stayed. Then another assistant returned from lunch, and immediately went and turned on the aircon. I walked out.

Fuck knows where I'll buy my ticket. The travel agents know that they can give crap service like this coz the competitors down the road are just as shite.

I have always used the agency attached to The Business Inn on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Admittedly I am not a regular cusotomer but they have been good in the past.

For emergencies i've got a fantastic agent up here. Never cheap but she can scrounge a quick flight to bum-fuck wherever in a flash. Usuall call her then either go visit er or get the thing delivered. For planned stuff I actually use a Thai agency in Hollywood CA They'll EMS the tickets.

Reminds me of when I went to a Thai dentist. It took a lot of courage for me to walk in the door and ask for a check-up. I had to wait 10 minutes for the dentist to become free. Then just as I was about to go in, a Thai couple arrived. I was then shown into the dentist's room, was asked to sit in the chair with big bright light in my face and told the dentist was coming.

After 15 minutes of listening to a lot of talking from the reception area, I walked out past the f*cking Thai couple and dentist who were chatting away in reception. Never went back there again.

One thing about Amex, they're not the cheapest ticket agent in town.

i've used a travel agent for the past 5 years here and i never met him yet - i email him an idea of what where when how - and he emails me back with about a dozen options.... i choose the one i want - he send a motorcyc aroudn to pick up... couldnt be easier

seomtimes he even emails me to say "you mihgt want to pay for your booking for X now because after 1 june anohter fuel price prise or something...

I think our travel agent in Khon kean is great wife calls her from anywhere and the agent books and pays for the ticket and we pay for the flight after we have caught the flight or the next time we are in Khon kean. You just check in with your passport
