Is ThaiVisa a reliable source of info?

When it comes to visa info or advice, I find ThaiVisa to either say that black is white and white is black, or that all six replies I get (for some reason it's always six replies) all contradict each other and leave me more confused than when I started.

Anything mildly truthful is scrutinized with Orwellian eyes, it's amazing how strict they are now, and with all those pretty banner ads the owners must do nothing but count money and kiss arse. It's almost like a mini version of the country itself.

I have nothing against ThaiVisa, but if you can't rely on that site for reliable information then things are worse than I thought.
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

Almost rhetorical. You know what TV is about and it's agenda, yes? What do you really expect?

    Are you really that stupid?

Thai Visa is merely a vehicle for Sunbelt Asia to scare people into using their services by publishing false information online.

    I thought everyone knew that?

TV told me I couldn't obtain a B visa without leaving the country. They were wrong.

Despite asking peoples advice i prefer to find out for myself.

...And the way to do that is ask around. ThaiVisa is a money machine, but the fact remains it is still trusted and the No.1 source of Thai visa information on the internet and that ain't right.

TV is an opinion based forum, some is good info, some info not so good. Just like here, however George has made it into a lucrative business whether you like him or not, you have to acknowledge his success.

Tell you what KW, if you were here I would bash you over the head with my kettle and stick these chicken livers up your arse. What comes up trumps on Google for information on Thai Visas?

You really are a prize fuckin' turnip.

You're right, though stating the obvious as usual. Regarding the last line, I wouldn't call it an honest buck.

Isn't it an Internet based forum where any hack can log on and spew opinions as facts? Sure the facts often get sprinkled among the stratified sludge, but it's the responsiblity of the individual to separate the wheat from the chaff.

    Much like Teak Door, no?

Why not go to specific, targeted websites if you're looking for information?

People who have never been to Thailand will put their trust in sites like ThaiVisa where so called 'Super Moderators' will tell them that you don't need a Non Imm B to get a work permit when of course you do, I had to and so did Jason Pilkington from Big Chilli.

I hope you are not referring to the Thai immigration website.

are there any immigration rules that are consistently interpreted by the different offices across the country - except for maybe falang = wrong , Thai = right ?

your chances of making a visa website for thailand that was totally correct throughout the country are nil - unless maybe you had a Thai in each office updating the changes of the wind in each office on an hourly basis.

    Angry George?

Well I have to agree the verdicts out their on TV from my experience.

It's great that you can post almost any question on Thai IMM law and WP law and get answers, but every single thread on such subjects seems to degnerate very quickly into the confusion that seems to be a particular law firms greatest asset.

Personally Ive given up using both SB and TV as organisations that help me in my life in Thailand.

How did Teakdoor get its name. Bruce from TEFL told me it was originally set up to export furniture. Thai Visa I think was set up to sell legal and relocation services. Maybe that's cynical?

No you don't, you can get a work permit on a Non-Imm O visa, Non Imm M visa, etc.
