Not the only one but maybe only the tip of the iceberg. Everybody who live in thailand know that Asian (thais and others) people like to shag virgins and it's not a secret. Even worst, these asians like to have sex without any protection (condom), with underage girls.

Don't only blame the few percent farangs who come here and for a big percentage respect the BG. Have a look how thais acts in the brothels and then come back to report. Just my two centimes.

Having finally read through this thread thought I would add a couple of comments. I am not going back to quote any posts as that would be too tedious.

Thais will blame anyone else for their problems and the sex scene in Thailand is a convieniant get out for them. Rather than admit it goes on they blame the farang for the cause of this, and highlight the areas of Pattaye, Bangkok and Phuket as the main source of blame. This accounts for maybe only 5 to 10% of the prostitution in Thailand. So much occurs in the rural areas of Thailand that you never hear of, and because it is not seen by westerners it is forgotten.


A litttle story here. On my last visit I went to see a female thai friend who had recently got married and had opened a bar/kharioke place in a small town. She had girls working there, plus ladyboys and gays, and was basically only a front for prostitution. When I asked her why she said that if she didn't get girls etc that were willing to rent out then she would get very little business. Talking more I then found out that there were about five or six of these places within about 5 kms, and along a road that I travelled often but did not know about.

It was her opinion that most of the karioke places in rural Thailand were a front for prostitution, catering for the Thai lorry drivers and local workforce. A couple of the girls that worked for her were underage (16) and one was the local cop captains bit on the side!!

Phuketbound you were jumped on because of the way that you treated the original article as being the gospel truth. Prostitution goes on in every country in the world, it just depends on how much that country wishes to brush it under the carpet or blame on someone else. Thailand takes both options.

Further evidence of rampant prostitution are those "sliding curtain" "ม่านรูด" "marn roodt" places that are just about everywhere you go especially in Isaan. These are the knocking shops with the small room and place where you can park your car and pull the curtain across to hide the reg number...... presumably from your wife or gf etc etc. Again I'm only passing on what I've been told because I never frequent places like this
