How Often Do U Eat Top Ramen/Cup of Noodles?

Recently I must admit that I've succumbed to sort of....mini-addiction: Cup 'o Noodles.

Like "Ma Ma" and the many other brand of cup of noodles that are very cheap and easy to cook and eat. You just heat water to a near boil, pour it in the styrofoam cup, let it sit for 3-5 minutes with the lid on, and voila.

    Eat, slurp, suck.

The current brand and flavor I've become enamored with is called "vina Ace cook." The word "modern" is also on the label.

I know that this food is crap. It's loaded with sodium. Who know knows what else is in it.

But it's so delicious that I keep eating it, especially when I come home late at night, and even when I'm not hungry.

I suppose I eat the cup of noodles about 4 times a week now.

    I have to stop!

So.....how about you? How often to you eat Top Ramen or Cup of Noodles?
    ............

Another well thought out thread topic that is both interesting, Challenging, and Informative.

Well it would be if you were slightly intellectually above a 4 year old with Downs Syndrome.

Thanks for the kind words, BG.

I find this a bit of an intrigueing topic. For many, many, year I never acquiesed to eating this stuff.

Somehow, someway, I have lowered my standards.

I have two cups sitting on my shelf - I can see them:

But I shall not succumb to the temptation tonight when I return to my apartment after imbibing on large Tiger beers.

Cup noodles are ok now and then. But 'real ramen' is divine, and one of my hobbies is trying out ramen restaurants. There is nothing better after a night out drinking than a 'good' bowl of ramen - japanese style. Thai noodles are also great, and at 20baht, you can't go wrong. The vendor outside my building makes an excellent dish of glass noodles with pork or fish balls. I eat this 2/3 times a week..

Mama are just over 20p in England, which is pretty good value considering the current exchange rate. Other instant noodles are much more expensive and not as nice.

get to the hotel late - room service is crap - open dutyfree bottle - use free coffee kit kettle to boil the water - mix one up - get slightly pissedish and sleep off the jetlag !!!

That's not what he is referencing. He is talking of those imitative versions of our local and simple 'MaaMaa'. You're talking of the fresh product, whereas the product in question is this perceived processed food. Even a mock food.

Though the prices have fluxuated here and there {depends on locale} for a bowl of noodles at your local corner....it's still a decent value.

I voted about once a month. There is the odd occasion where I am pissed, on the way home from a networking function, no desire to go out of my way to Villa etc... for bread or other farang supper treats and just stop at a 7-11 and grab a pack of Mama.

Doesn't quite do it, but does fill a tiny hunger pang gap.

There have also been occasions where I've had a meal at local Thai place that work magic on Mama. I'm all for it.

Pot Noodles are not in the same category ET.

I eat it about once a year.
Only to remind myself how badly it tastes.

Japanese noodles (ramen) are much better than Thai noodles in my estimation.
A nice bowl of shio, shoyuu or miso in a decent Tokyo noodle shop can easily reach 350 baht.

While not a big fan of noodles, I and my daughter find ourselves eating a bowl about once a week just to remind us of Thailand...

Actually the indonesian version of instant noodles is even better, you get 5 separate packets of spices and sauces, they are great for breakfast, but i cook them, put them on a plate add a fried egg, some sausages.

    adn PERFECT breakfast.

What's available in the instant noodle world within Asian cultures and what passes {and is generally available} for instant noodles in the West are two different creatures.
