    Cambodia MIA

Hi guys and laidees, hope you're all having a cracking xmas, i haven't managed to get near an internet connection for a while, been a little busy..

Got lots of great pics and a few bloody good experences to share and one or two I think better to keep to myself, I'll write up a couple of trip reports the next couple of days and see if I can get pics up too.

Koh Kong was just freakin crazy and stayed two nights, it's got an edge to it as befits a dusty border town full off smugglers, whores and cut-throats.. interesting to say the least, and expensive too, damn it was, but the flip side was I found a beautiful beach where me and Paspatou spent the days, almost deserted, save for a steady stream of cold beers.

I'm in Sihanoukville now and it's great, two towns for the price of one, or maybe three.. the good, the bad and the ugly. I decided to stay int the bad part, which has it's advantages. All a bit cryptic I know, but as I say I'll get some threads together.

It is absolutely full here, 80-90% capacity with most hotels in the Ocecutal beach area fully booked, a surprising number of families, but still plenty of fun seekers. And the prices are great, half a dollar for a beer, three dollars for a Snapper... I'll be here a while.

So I'm looking forward to a good New Years party and it's shaping up nicely, I hope yours is going to be good too..

Anyway all the best, just wanted to keep in touch.

I normally go crystal methin and skaging it in Cambo for Christmas as a now sober man's annual old skool trippin. But I am in frozen fucking England with a load of aging relatives ...... I haven't taken any droogs in almost a year so it will mean it will be two years before I get out there again. My mind may become too alert... the sweet ennui that Cambodia's progressive attitude to hard drugs brings is an essential part of any balanced dialectic ... Perhaps I should have a week in PP for the good of the forum.

They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve

Yup what he said... kinda. There's plenty of smokers here and the waft of ganja is never far away. Had a toke when we got over the border and had some real belly laughs.. damn good fun. I''m not the same lad I used to be though and just stick to beers, Vodka and the occasional ciggy.

Got to say I am loving it here. The attitude is great, the locals treat you with a curiosity rather than the simmering animosity of Thais. I think for Cambodians the future is bright, there's a lot of construction going on and a growing tourist industry so everyone is making a living. A lot of the infrastructure is being put in place, sewrage, water and power for development in the coming years. Apparantly a lot of it is being paid for by Vietnam and China, with Cambodia now cutting it's dependance on Thai power supplies. Well it's all good and the driving is bloddy crazy so I'm taking it all in slowly.

Heading to Ocecu.. Ocet.. Ocu.. oh that bloody big beach where all the bars are, for New Years Eve. There's a real mixed crowd and all the hotels are full so it should be good.

Happy New Year to everyone at Teakdoor.

I know where the days have gone and they've all been very happy ones.
I'm amazed at the amount of alcohol I've consumed on a nightly basis. but me and Dave haven't had a bad word with each other or anyone else.

We left Sihanoukville yesterday in the company of some very good friends we've made and hit Pnom Phen.

    What a shithole!

Street 136, the éntertainment' district, makes Soi 6 look like a haven of tranquility, after bailing out of the first couple of bars, which were obvious short times we found the Upside Down bar with a very friendly boss, a good crowd, a pool table and some very lovely ladies.... and the night moved on.

We're off to Siam Reap today, two days in Angkor Wat and then a flight direct to Bangkok on the 14th for $175.. it's just not worth wasting another day in PP and risking your life on these roads.

Daves off home and I'm off to TRSC for my eye op, so that'll put the kybosh on the partying.. hopefully a couple of weeks with a good net connection might make me get a few threads sorted out.. got plenty of pictures that's for sure.

    All the best.
