My favourite has to be the highland cow.
You can't go wrong with a good old fashioned highland cow.
I was impressed by the albino buffalo I saw in Laos though.

I've always liked Fresians myself.
I think they have a lot of style and black and white is such a classic look, they will never look dated.
I thought Fresians were flowers
anyway, Singha is my favourite ruminant. I can just sit there after a couple of bottles and ruminate for ages
They might well be people from Finland
noun: any of various cud-chewing hoofed mammals having a stomach divided into four (occasionally three) compartments.
I had to look it up.....I'll just to go and look up cud now....I mean what's a cud, I've never seen one in Tescos. Anyway, cow - any cow, don't care what make or colour.
Back off Margaret, you're on a sugar rush!
Not just cows Danbo
Oh no, sheep, goats, people from Norfolk.
You are such a dag Andy!
Fainting Goats are my favourite
If you don't know what they are then go look here

This is a most excellent subject, and I will be hard pressed to pick my favourite. In fact, most ruminants carry themselves with a sublime and inimitable sense of cool.
Here are just some of my favourites:
1. The Gnu.
(Just ponder the name for a while, and then have a look at the picture. Trivia: Did you know that the Gnu and the Wildebeest refer to the same type of animal? I did not until today.)
Oh yeah? You ain't so pretty yourself, bwana.
2. The Yak
Misnamed and misunderstood? Would not the word 'yak' be better suited for a small, annoying rhodent or a particularly nasty breed of soi dog that will not shut up? Instead, we have a majestic mountain buffalo which has been of invaluable service to the peoples of the Himalayas.
Don't bogart that spliff, grandma. Or I'll kick your ass.
3. The Elk (or Moose, as some of you might prefer to call it.)
An animal whose Latin name (Alces Alces) sounds like the type of repetative expat pisshead you might expect to meet in a tourist bar bragging about his supreme understanding of Thai ways to a group of clueless first-timers. But he is the King of the Woods, reigning supreme in the taigas of the wind-swept ultima thule of the Arctic and Subarctic zone. Well, at least until he pisses off (or on) a wolverine.
Stalker Supreme.
4. The Llama
I'm gonna ride my llama / From Peru to Texarkana
I'm gonna ride him good / In my old neighbourhood
Immortalized in this Neil Young classic, the trickster of the Andes remains unperturbed at our gloating, a trait he very much shares with other ruminants. They simple don't give a fuck about what we think of them, and this is of course the secret to their cool. When I was a wee little Skulldigger toddler, my Papa took me to the zoo so I could see the llamas. As he took me up on his shoulders so I could get a better view, they scored a bull's eye by spitting a hard wad of carefully ruminated hay straight into his face.
Scoundrel.
5. The Musk Ox.
*Aglllrrrppp...?*
^Wow, I'm in awe of Mother Nature. Great post Skulldigger.
Looks like a retarded cow at a fancy dress party, but it still gets my vote.
My favorite bovine quadruped is the pig...I always get a Thai to kill one when I have to cause they sound so human when they're killed.
This thread is about ruminants Spliff not bovines
Please keep on topic.
The musk ox looks almost pre-historic
I guess it actually is prehistoric if prehistoric='before written records'.
Wikipedia says it has been around since the last ice age.
It looks like the large chested, stand up straight, old ladies of my childhood all dressed up for church with their fox fur capes and funny hats.
Frisiens are all prima donnas, give me a nice docile Jersy cow. Charolise are pretty cool as well
Do you aspire to be like that in later life Lily?It looks like the large chested, stand up straight, old ladies of my childhood all dressed up for church with their fox fur capes and funny hats.
Now this LLama is cool
Is it real?

Got other business maybe.

What else is more important on a Thursday afternoon other than talkinga bout ruminants?
I coudnt begin to imagine what would be more interesting than that.
