Funnily enough, since I've moved to my new house, I've probably seen more of Thai home life than I have in my seven years of living here. I thought I lived in a Thai area before, but my tiny little soi was virtually deserted (possibly cos no-one wanted to live next door to me! )
Now, I live in a proper moo-ban, mostly occupied by Thai Army families. Based on some observations since being there, I have some questions...
Why are Thai soap operas so crap? Badly acted & terrible storylines. (Guess who's stuck on Thai TV, because she has no UBC?)
Why are there so many equally crap Korean soaps?
Why do people watch them?
Why do Thais never try to shut their dogs up, if they're barking? If mine bark in the day, I do my utmost to quiet them & I take them all in at night. My 2 neighbours have dogs and quite happily let them bark all night. Doesn't bother me much; they can hardly moan about me, can they?
Why is the nearest shop 15 mins walk away? Does everyone but me have cars/mocycs?
Why do the locals keep giving my son food? I'm not talking ka-nom, I'm talking actual meals, in plastic bags. Do they think I don't feed him?
Actually, none of those things are moans. It's actually quite nice being in a community. I just never realised that I was living 'outside' Thai communities before.
Anyone else have any 'whys' to add?
