I don't know you that much either (see Scampy's post) but if you believe what you post then what's the problem? I live in Thailand, but I'm not a "Thaiophile" so I'll probably be agreeing with you. See ya later!

I believe in democracy. I don't force anyone to read my posts, but as per the quote in the post above, some members can't help themselves but to read them, get upset, and then get personal and nasty. Weirdos or what!?

Just trying to find out the thoughts behind the nastiness shown on this forum, and wondering if such people are as nasty and bitter in real life. Also why some people are so emotionally affected by my criticisms of Thailand and English teaching.

I am NEVER nasty to anyone individually until they are nasty to me first. That has always been a rule of mine on any forum.

I agree with you on this Smeg. But don't you think too many members are already against you and posting more of such threads would do you no favour mate.

Maybe, but I couldn't give a toss either way. I'm not washed up enough to think of forums or the people who use them as anything important in my life; using them is just a silly little habit.

    Smeg,

You post some occasiional useful comments intermixed with some of the most preposterous crap I've ever read, which when commented on you studiously ignore.

Go! You've worn out any right to be taken seriously as far as I'm concerned.

Nope, I don't think so. Nobody has to read them, but anyone does has to accept that what they will read might penetrate their rose-tinted specs. Beats me why some people spend so much of their time getting nasty and personal with me tho. What are they trying to achieve?

I think much of the population and the culture here sucks. So what. Just because the average Thaiophile has dumped their native country to live in Thailand because they have fallen in love with the people and culture, why do they have to become so upset with other people who are spending time here but for different reasons?!

I actually like the beaches and countryside and wildlife and food here, but I'm not gonna get persistently nasty and angry with someone if they start threads saying that the wildlife here is crap and Africa is much better, or likewise. I'll either accept their opinions or ignore them...

I think that a lot of people who live here are very fragile, sensitive and bigoted about that decision, but will never openly admit it (but its obvious by their extreme reactions to criticism of living here)

What is that supposed to mean exactly?

You mean I express some opinions which other people find outrageous, and when they respond angrily I refuse to back down and agree with their alternative opinions? Only an incredibly arrogant or foolish person would expect me to do so.... (or the typical Western dropout heavy-handed lout I so often spot around Thailand)

Because I think it takes a very strong negative motive to do it for a prolonged period, such as being previously miserable or failed, causing someone to dump their native country and strike up a new life in a new country. As you say, it can be hard work, and uncomfortable, so why would any happy person need to do it forever?

Things are all relative. The only person who would happily accept the rigours of living here on a permanent basis is someone who previously was in an even more rigorous situation....

    Translated from Smeglish..

"The only people who would be happy here are the people who are actually happy here, certainly much happier than they were on that shit pit miserable island they used to live in."

    I think you should stay.

Dont mind some of the grief that some members give you, just carry on doing what you do. I would of left ages ago if the comments of some members got to me that much but I'm still here and I wont let a few posts or members bother me to be honest.

Welcome to the forum world. It's a jungle out there and not many posters are sugar and spice and all things nice.

I just want to know what the real issue is between you and Kenkannif. Why is there so much irrational and disturbed behavior there ? Did you know that human morons are distinctively more intelligent than the brightest of mammals ?
