Need help, stray cat.

Way I used to do it with my cats was.

Wrap cat in towell (unless you want to get sratched to blazes)
Place wrapped cat under arm
Gently force mouth open using thumb and index finger
Drop tablet into open mouth
Quickly shut mouth and hold closed and then gently massage throat.
This should induce the swallowing action.

Usually works but not always as I had my cat hold the tablet for over a minute then spat the bloody thing out

Bladdy loser. Tablet and little chunk of fresh squid. Pick up kitty, open jaws, put tablet at back of throat and then chuck in the squid. Hold jaws closed if necessary. Done and dusted.

Just out of interest, can't you do with cats what I do with the dogs? Insert the pill in a lump of canned food, sausage or similar & they just eat it? Just wondering why the squid is after the pill & not containing it. Do cats spit it out like that?

I used to have dogs too, and it was easy. bladdy cat, I try putting it down its throat, it dont like that much, it manages to cough it back up even after I think it has swallowed the tablet.

and if the food has the tablet or bits of the tablet in it, he will will refuse to eat the whole bowl.

If KW's arse was seen in a forest....would anyone see the forest !!


NR....my monkey has bitten me a few times now, over a span of 3 years and I did not get anything from the first one, so guess they do not have rabies...he on the other hand !!

Then let starve for a couple of days then feed with meds. Should be gulping the stuff down by then. Hopefully.

He ran away again last night.

First time I had him in the cage, but felt sorry for him, so I left him locked in the small back garden i have (10 foot concrete walls) and he couldnt walk on one leg...

In the morning gone, he must have managed to go up a vetical tree bad leg and all..

SO cuaght him again. let him roam the garden while i was watching him, he wasnt moving much, next thing I know,l he is gone again, like a ghost...

damn, damn,

how am i gonna make him take his meds...

so got him again lsat night, no more garden for him., locked the house up totally....

except he went upstairs, and he had managed to remove a louve window pane in the attic that I thoguht i had fixed. havent seen him again this morning, but damn cat is going into the cage for a week to finish his meds when i catch him again.

Why couldnt the bladdy vet just give him an injection for everythign in one go. woulda made my life more simple....

I remember a cold, wet and windy November day in London many years ago.
I was looking out onto my patio and saw this little ginger ball of fur stagger across and collapse in a pool of water. My heart went out to the little creature and I deceided to save it. At the time I was working for an animal nutrition company where I was the formulator of some dietetic feedstuffs for baby animals and had some sample products at home. Armed with my potent energy booster I went out into the rain and administered by pippette a small dose of the product oraly. Holding the little kitten to my breast to keep it warm I waited for the product to kick in. Honestly I wasn't sure it would work as the poor little creature looked half dead to me. 5 mins went by and suddenly the little kitten started scratching and wrigling to get free. I released the animal and it bounded away back into the wild. It was a feral cat. As the kitten grew into a cat and years went by it would visit me and just look at me with his green feral eyes never coming too close.
I sometimes regretted having saved the animals life as it fathered hundreds of stray cats in the area and would keep people awake on those sultry summer nights when the windows were open with their continous howling for sex or territorial disputes.

This little bugger is obviously a free spirit street cat, all be it with a limited life span. Thailand seems to have a lot of these semi-ferals.
My guess is that he will come and go when he needs a feed, and then one day he just wont come anymore.

Whats this "ran outta money" and hoping people will help me thing you are on about? I earn a nice income and can take care of myself thanks.

Just because I show some compassion towards animals doesn't mean my stance on other matters we disagree on has changed. Maybe right at the moment I am a little more mellow than usual because I am nursing one of my best mates through a serious illness. My old bull terrier cross dog is sick. She is like family to me and if we can get her through this there's every possibility of years more of good quality life.

This is not a political thread, so don't try putting the stick in re other disagreements we may have had elsewhere.
