Scamp as much as I can see your side of the argument I do think it's a bit much saying you can't afford things because you have no income, and you don't want to dip into your 'emergency cash' when you have just spent 3 weeks holiday in China including a week on the piss in Hong Kong. You don't seem to mind spending it then.

Well, it wasn't quite like that.

The whole lot cost me about 600 UKP pounds and it wasn't like it was completely non productive, I hope to make half that back from my mates wedding video. (if his parents like it enough)

But you understand the point I am making Scamp, as KW said, you like to 'cry poor' when it comes to getting a few rounds in for a friend, but when it comes to spending cash on yourself suddenly it's not a problem.

I do and I did, but hang on, I have emergency cash in the UK so I can afford to spend 300baht on a couple of drinks. I have the money to spend 5,000 on a chocolate bar but I wouldn't happily do it.

A video was required of me, I gave a discount quote - not low enough, went down to 5k, not low enough, eventually got down to 2k and a second hand Nano, so for starters I am the one being benevolent with my money - then I'm invited to the cinema and it would not have felt right to say no - especially seeing as Blake has in the past wondered if I am just a true friend or not.

Perhaps I should have said, nope - "got to go", and left him to whatever but I was flattered he chose my company. I regret not shouting the cinema because I think the seats were standard price, it would have been affordable, but after the bookshop I only had small change.

This whole thread started because it bothered me, but I sometimes think Blake7 really believes I would turn my back on him were he penniless tomorrow. He once said he had nothing to gain from our relationship which I have to admit hurt a little after 4 years and yesterday I was close to quitting the forum I was that upset and angry, I doubt Blake was and Butterfly is just in it for the wind up and couldn't care less if I lived or died.

Britmaveric said something about Blake's wife banning me from their house which is utter crap and he should defend where it's due.

In the past, I have not been much of a friend to him in the sense that I have been so wrapped up in my own life that I've taken no interest in his, but these days I make the effort to ask about his family and find that instead of just saying it as par for the course I do actually give a shit and have met them all many times.

I guess we feel we have ripped each other off, and that we have both been benevolent, and I didn't begrudge paying a round, I just didn't want to spend too much having just clinched a business deal worth ten beers in Rainbow 4.

It's all pretty much the same in these places. I refused a beer on principle even though it wasn't me getting the bill, I didn't want him wasting his money.

But as Blake pointed out, it's the view you are paying the extra for.

I have known Scampy for more time than most if not all here, having worked together for nearly 4 years. While working in this job we both earned very good money especially as we were in Asia, unfortunately that job has finished (hopefully start again September) but while working there, there was no question of being tight as money was good and regular. Now he has fallen on hard times and trying to start up a business alone and he is very good at what he does.
The work he does is extremely time consuming and has many overheads but minor overheads i.e printing DVD labels and covers but also has to travel into Bangkok to get these things done and when I hear the amounts he is getting paid as he is charging 'mates rates' it baffles me as to why he would do it for such a measley amount, so maybe the person who he is making the films for is tight???
Scampy works on his films for days on end to get it to 'perfection' and it is skilled work, I and maybe the majority of people here would not be able to do what he does in this field.
I am like Blake 7 in the sense that I myself prefer to have a night on the beer with an LBFM sat on my knee watching the other girls doing there bit on the stage and care about how much I spent when I wake up in the morning and check my pockets.
As anyone who has met Scampy would surely agree he is good entertainment value whether it be laughing with him or laughing at him!! I find drinking with him in a little Thai bar can be most amusing especially wehen he is on form and Sandra is not mentioned, I think and hope she is out of his life for now and maybe telephone bills will drop dramatically
I feel he is being taken advantage of financially making these films as there are 'mates rates' and then there is taking the piss!
He is making his website inorder to make this into a decent business venture and hopefully it will work out well for him, and I am sure he will return the kindness shown to him by others through his poorer years.
The inheritence he has should be kept for the future and or investing in himself towards starting his business not going to the go-go bars which he has lost interest in (suspect poove!! haha).
As Dirty Dog mentioned earlier if I was going to meet a customer about work I would not expect to be paying for myself especially as it meant that most of the money I would make from said venture would be spent on that night out.
He's a good lad and deserves a decent break, getting on his back like this is almost to the point of bullying and doing him no good what so ever if anything is putting him down especially from some people here of whom he speaks so highly.
In summary is Scampy a tight c*nt? probably, but going through a bad financial time so to be expected
Should Scampy do these films at the stupidly, embarrasingly low costs for Blake7 (who apparently is pretty well off) if he is just gonna slag him off online? f*ck no!
Does Blake7 take advantage of Scampy and his friendship when it comes to doing said jobs? f*ck yeah!
I have not met blake7 so I will not say he is a c*nt or nice guy as I do not know him but I feel the two of them are as bad as eachother.
For the money he earns from Blake7's films it is not worth the hassle and the abuse he gets on here, no offense but I would tell you go f*ck yourself when it comes to the money you pay for priceless moments of your family captured on film.
And to top it all off now many of you have dished out the abuse to him I will have to be bored to death by the whole thing in a bar in Muang Thong Thani. I will let you all know who pays!!

I would prefer to drink with a load of locals than ex-pats as from my experience most ex-pats moan about the country they moved from and also the country they are now in!! give me a group of Thais who want to get pissed, talk about football and sing Karaoke until 5am any day of the week.
As much as I enjoy go-go bars I don't go with with Scampy because I know he despises paying the prices they charge for a beer in them, will be interesting should he returns to the UK having to pay even more and seeing nothing but big fat pasty white birds drinking pints and swearing as much as the blokes!!

This money is I believe controlled by a trust fund and being wasted here while he does pointless little film jobs for less than 100GBP.
It wasn't a holiday as such, yes he went to a friends wedding of whom he done the invitations free of charge, and was offered money from the couples family to film it not Scampy setting a price!

Same reason I haven't been there yet I suppose, it's a bit far out of town. Maybe he should ask him, then he'll find out. To say Blake is too snobby to mix with those people though isn't right.
