Thread: Today (18.04) is Independence Day

Today, Friday 18 April 2008, Zimbabwe celebrates 28 years of independence from British colonial rule*.

A very happy Independence Day to you all, especially those Rhodies that now live outside of Zim. who can afford to enjoy a beer and recall times past


*although that is not strictly true - as we have a small matter of UDI.

My condolences on the mistake made in seeking independence.

I'll have a beer for you guys later.

I'll go torch a few farms to celebrate.

The mistake wasn't independence, it wasn't even taking the white owned farms.
It was not giving adequate compensation to the white farmers and giving the farms to cronies that had no knowledge (or intention) of continuing to farm those lands.
