I've been given a letter from work stating that I must
I'm going to get the push, for sure.Attend a meeting with the Head of HR regarding my recent conduct, I can bring a witness along if I want & that I may be dismissed from the company after the meeting
I know what this is about, as it raised a few eyebrows in the room at the time. While tring to close a sale, I told a client that our competitor, who was half the price I was asking him for, was only so low because they use "third-world monkeys from Mumbai" to do the work.
As soon as it came out of my mouth, I realised what I'd said, knew it would be taken out of context & as the letter I've received shows - I was right.
In my eyes, I've done nothing wrong. India is a third world country & when I called them monkeys I was refering to their ability to do the same job, not the colour of their skin. I'm not racist. I don't like Romanians, but that's it. Nevertheless, I'm going to get the sack because of some other person's interpritation of what I meant & I haven't got a leg to stand on.
I could wheel in one of my Paki mates as the witness at & tell them he doesn't find it offensive, but it would be putting him on the spot a bit if they are going to get rid of me, so I don't think I'll bother.
Fired - for nothing.
