Should Drug Traffickers be so inhumanely treated in Thai prisons?

I know they are scumbags but the treatment that Warren Fellows was subjected
to in Bangkok's Bang Kwang prison was beyong the pale.....

His book 'The Damage Done' is a catalogue of horror, perpetrated by brutal Prison Guards. It is quite sickening stuff.

True it may put off those who are tempted to deal in Illegal Drugs in Thailand, but
how one human can do such things to another, is beyond me......

Thais are a cruel race I fear.

Prisons, especially in lessor developed prisons, are not so rosy.

I advice, is to stay out of them. Meaning do do stupid stuff.

I'm never any longer surprised at the cruelty which humans can inflict on one another. I haven't read the book, but after living here a few years, I wouldn't want to be at the mercy of a Thai, especially a Thai prison guard. Of course I wouldn't want to be in any prison. People in Thailand which are in a position of authority, seem to be out of control with whatever power their position bestows upon them. I don't even want any such bad dreams, as such a scenario might produce.

What's with all the liberal pussies on TD?

Do the crime you do the time.

Ain't so fucking hard to fathom, is it?

Claim you're a farang and gettin jobbed by the man ... presumably you knew that coming in. If you didn't you're a numpty that shoulda stayed home with grams and the sheep.

If you're a smart drug trafficer you'll ply your insidious trade in a country that will give you hot meals, free root canals, cable TVs and blowjobs on demand.

My advice is to look outside Asia.

I guess someone could be framed, not that it would ever happen here.

No, "they" are not scumbags, but Fellows does come across as one.
I do not believe half of what he has asked someone to write for him, either.
Nobody deserves cruel and inhumane treatment in any prison - basic human rights apply, being convicted of a crime does not make anyone less of a human.

prison in any country isn't supposed to be a holiday camp, ok they foked up in the UK and made the open prisons much the same as Butlins or Pontins but you had to come back at night, fok these people that get caught, they know the risks, they also know what a great amount of money they can make, you can get a kilo of herion here for a 1,000 quid, cut it four times you got four kilos, how much is that worth in the UK? They take the risks, and if they get caught they have to do the time, fok them.

Half the stuff the guards do is 10 times worse than anything half the people in there have ever done.

Then it's up to the country to police their guards.

It doesn't excuse the convicts. False argument.

Well OK, going back to the OP. The prisoners should be treated according to the law of that country, especially since they are being punished for breaking the law in the first place.

    Drug dealers, kiddy fiddlers, whatever.

The screws break ten laws that would get them a 5 year stretch before breakfast.

    OK, incoming reds time.

In answer to your quoted question, Luckydog, my answer is - Yes! And more.

These twats ruin lives. For money. For themselves. My Dad was a drug 'policeman' (for want of a better word) in the Navy. I've heard stories & seen pics that would turn your stomach, or worse. I've never done drugs at all, but we had drug dealers outside my high school (25 yrs ago) & many of my friends bought from them. Kids.

Warren Fellowes didn't care if someone OD'ed on what he brought in. He didn't care what age the people taking his 'import' would be. He didn't care how many families despaired or the problems caused. He cared about money. For himself. WTF should I care about him? If everything he told about in that book (yes, I've read it) was tripled, he still wouldn't have what he deserves, IMO.

Well it depends what drugs i was going after, but to be honest Thailand's not much cop for any of them at the moment ... maybe smack from Laos or Cambodia. probably your best bet is get a nice skunk farm going in the UK.

What about Chavs from the UK who get paid a grand plus a week in Koh Samui to bring in a stomach full of Es through Thai customs ?

i think I get what you're syaing, but don't believe that stupidity SHOULD result in brutality and inhumanity, though I recognise that it does ...

^I think you will find that most Asian countries don't keep it a dark hidden secret that they have the death penalty for drug dealers, so, so what they got beaten a few times and locked up for a few years, hell they got off lightly, they weren't sentenced to death....

"Doing the time" is not the issue here, but the mistreatment of prisoners, Mr. Dog.

Your definition of stupidity is my definition of callousness.

I don't think he was stupid. I just don't think he gave a shit. Until he was caught.

From a user's point of view, they risk their lives, imprisonment and abuse to get the hard-to-come-by goods to you.
They deserve a more than decent profit on the deal.
