    Left home - how old?

It seems to me that today children/people never leave home!

So I ask - "How old were you when you left home?"

When I say "left home" - I mean walked out the door and never went back to your parents' house other than as a guest in someone else's home?

    ^sadly mate, I don't have any.

Easter weekend here - and it may be playing on my mind.

Either that - or I'll be PP's age by the time I have kids

but, I do have a work colleague who is 35 and still living at home.

Now, I remarked that in "my" culture if you're 35 and still living at home - basically, you're gay.

He got a little a pissed off with that reply.

my parents moved to a new town while I was away at boarding school and didn't leave the new address - it was ok as they hadn't sold the old house yet and I could break in.

Exactly, and always worked in the hay fields during season and lived on which ever ranch you were working for, so just leaving home was no big deal as we had been doing that every spring since we were 9 or 10 years old.
And trapped furs all winter so made a few bucks right along all year round.

Had great parents but bloody hard going back.

Moved out when I was 19 for a year or so, then back home for a year or so then gone for good.

I lodged with my sister for a few months when I was about 30 because I had sold my house, but that doesn't count.

A friend of mine had his parents move out before him. He only left the house at about 35 when they sold it.

kids in Aussie are staying home till there 65 because its too foking expensive to move out.

Rents are horrendous and one needs 15 room mates to pay the rent.

Once you get fiddle footed it sure is hard to keep em in one place for any length of time ain't it?

Damn my Dad was born 25 miles from where he died and he spent his whole life around that area, was only gone off to war for 3 years and then right back to the same house he had lived in since 1938,
He would go on vacation fishing at the high lakes within 50 miles of home, hunt within 25 miles of home and died in the hospital, but still actually lived in the same house all his adult life.

Isn't it interesting that everyone left so early & we're pretty much all well-travelled & many of us living in a country that is not our native one? I wonder what the results of this poll would show if they were on a forum of a town where most members had lived their whole life. Would the age of moving out be similar or wildly different?
