I'm not sure if a morally-charged, Western concept like "cheating" has much meaning in Thailand. What really sends a Thai wife reaching for the butcher knife is any sort of outrageous violation of your implied marital agreement. There are three variations that I can think of: 1.) publicly flaunting another sex partner, thus causing the wife to lose major 'face', 2.) squandering significant money on extramarital activity, money that the wife feels rightfully belongs in the realm of the family and 3.) bringing home a disease that harms the wife. Getting busted for any of these three violations should scare husbands a lot more than being discovered having other sorts of sex outside of marriage.
