This is how much weight I gained in thirty days in the US. I continued to work out at least an hour nearly every day and I generally ate only two meals a day with a little snacking in between. Unfortunately, at least one of those two meals was at a restaurant. Even more unfortunately, I have no self-control and restaurants seem to have abandoned portion control. The meals are huge and full of fat and calories. It really is astounding. It's easy to see why so many Americans are grossly overweight. A few meals out a week and weight gain is inevitable.
I suppose if I were on my own I could have done better, but constantly dining with family and friends who encourage and even insist that you overindulge resulted in the largest short term weight gain that I've ever experiences.
When I was running marathons I weight about 65-70 kilos. More recently I've scaled in at 80 or 81. Yesterday, after arriving home it was 86!
A crushing experience.
The coming challenge? Get back to 80 kilos without giving up beer.
