Off to Burma again to play cricket, almost thwarted by bladdy Indo traffic!

This weekend I am playing cricket and golf in Burma with the SiamCC. Now two years ago when i flew there to play cricket I missed 2 flights and ended up paying for 6 tickets for myself and xg/f to get there, much to the amusement of my mates.

So I didnt want to miss any flights again this time. I ducked out of work early, left home at 4.30pm (that's leaving an hour and a half plus the two hours early at the airport... plenty of time! .... one would think ! )

Peak hour traffic in Jkt sucks big time! Even more so if you have a flat tire!

flight leaves at 19.50 - 2 hours from now! and we are still an hour from the airport, with a flat, so we had to leave the tollway! and stop to fix it.

    Easier said than done,

I had to show the driver how to use the jack,

then which way to twist the wheel nuts, then which way to use the lever to get the wheel nuts off!

    grrrr...

some other random guy come and helped also! In all the process took 30 mins!

and then the spare was bladdy flat also!

so we then had to drive futher to find a stall selling compressed air, fortunately we did, I got to the airport at 7.10 - check in was closed.

Fortunately, they opened when they saw me and allowed me to board.

Anyway, the flight connection are not good, in fact I arrived in KL after the last (and probably only) flight to Yangon, so I had to stay over one night, I told the travel agent just to find a reasonably cheap hotel for me....

well, he certainly found that, this room had no windows, no minibar, and was the size of a box !

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too - they have a 'local' team there?

My Hercule Poirot alarm is ringing:

Since the bed in the KL hotel room if for one occupant,

and since you, the driver, and the buggery-loving samaritan are all in the photo,

    who snapped that photo???

your entitled to that opinion, but i dissagree.

the junta didnt get much money out of us, the locals did.

and also the junta gets all the money it needs from oil/gas, drugs and gems, mainly form thailand and China that it really doesnt matter if we play cricket there or tourists visit or not!

yeah i know ... we were playing 20 over games, our first game the openers started with a 100 partnership meaning i didnt need to bat, 2nd game i was batting at 4, went out to the runners end, scampered a few runs and byes, watched 3 other batsmen go out, without facing a ball, when i did i was planning to be careful and just block it, but the bowler gave me such a dolly that midstroke i changed my mind and send him a dolly back ... with he caught without any trouble at all!

this was the bus they picked us up in the morning with...

and the inside of it, notice we are all looking a little seedy...

and then some of the boys after the games (but Singapore team had already fcked off, the losing cvnts!)

and back to the hotel on the bus again, by this stage a keg or two had been drunk and 2 bottles of vodka slammers!

in fact I had a wee nana nap after the game, and missed the dinner ( something i usually do, woke up at 12.00am and met up with everyone at the pub!
