    Mozzies ~ Enough is enough

I was just reading Texpat's thread about Siamese Fish and it went onto dengue fever and maleria and Happyman I think said that each mosquito could mean the end etc...

Whilst typing this thread I am being bitten by one of three of the silent little kunty vermin that have been hiding in my room for the past few days. Maybe two now as I got one with a mist of Baygon termite and crawling insect killer which is way to strong for mozzies as they drop like a stone and are killed instantly which is ok I suppose but they don't suffer enough.

I was wondering if buying a goldfish would be a better idea than 'hunting' in my apartment every night, disturbing any black items of clothing of which they seem to nestle.

I guess I could catch some lizards and release them in my room but they are not easy to get - you need an elastic band to flick at them and it's not a very nice thing to do.

Anyway, mosquitoes - I am sick of the fucking things and waking up in the night with knuckles and ankles with more bumps than a LEGO brick.

They say it's only the females that bite, well every one I have encountered tries it's luck so I'm not sure I believe that - if it's true then where are all the males?

I think a fish could be the answer.

I don't get any mozzies in the room even if I leave all the windows open, do you live next to a stinking khlong or something?

Buy a dog, preferably a black one, mossies love them, plus you can always sell it for meat if you get skint.

Alternitavely buy 4 tennis raquet style mosquito zappers approx 50 baht each stick the on button down (blu tak, cellotape or chewing gum just 3 possible options) then attatch them to your ceiling fan and not only can you enjoy the pleasant breeze but also they crackling sound of the little shits frying to death !!

    Don't buy one of these.

I bought one looking forward to the satisfaction of electrificating the bastards and then, just to annoy me even further, they changed their policy and ceased entering the room as soon as the sparky bat was deployed.

How can they be intelligent enough to know I have one?

Screens work ... to a point. If you combine a screen with one of those ~2K baht mosquito traps with blacklight and fan, it reduces the number 20 fold. Called a black hole -- same nickname I bestowed my ex-girlfriend in Stanhope, NJ, 1981.

They work a treat. If you still get bit, try the Texpat method. Oil up your girl and steal the entire blanket 'round 2 a.m.

Next morning your soulmate will look like a smallpox victim, but you're fresh as the morning dew.

Actually the best way to catch them is with your hand when it is all soapy and suddy when you are in the shower rubbing soap all over your body.

    Can't miss.

There are not many things more satisfying than catching a mosquito.

You do realise towel lint sticks to soap and you need to rinse all of the soap off, maybe that is where you went wrong.......

OK an hour before your beddie byes time, just spray the room with Baygon Mossie killer (not the creepy crawly killer version) keep the doors and windows shut. mend your screens

the easiest way though is to use a Mossie net, very comfortable although can be fun if you need a pee in the middle of the night and are already a bit tipsy
    I have reported your post

It is true that only females bite. Males live off of nectar.

According to 'Yahoo answers' the blue bulbs in these machines don't work on mosquitos and only attract pollenating insects. Can anyone confirm that ?

...and, as previously & quite rightly mentioned, as part of their cunning and ingenious world domination plan involving the spreading of HIV.

I never get bitten by mozzies. I heard a theory that they are attracted to sweet breath, and I very rarely eat sweet things, preferring savoury. For those of you that do suffer, do you eat/drink a lot of sweet stuff??

I've heard this also but why do they always seem to go for other parts of ones body when they should be aiming for your face area ?
