Nope. Not a chance. Wouldn't even do something "legal" to make big money if I felt it against my ethical/moral principals. Probably why I will never be "rich".Originally Posted by chinthee

Don't begrudge me the Merc, it's been nothing but work. And a hard life.
Assuming this is aimed at my last post, absolutely no intent to begrudge anyone attaining financial success. Just responding to the question posed in your post re ill gotten gains.Originally Posted by chinthee

Business as usual here. A moveable feast.
^Actually, I do owe you money. I never sent the money I promised after your burglary. Do you have the new foundation now? I'll arrange things because I still suffer from this damn Catholic guilt.
Did you promise? I really don't remember, so I'm not holding you to anything. Yeah, we're officially Head Rock Dogs rehoming centre now, not HHDRC. No more rescue shelter; just care in the community & neutering & rehoming existing dogs.
I think one of the questions many people want to know about rich people is "did you sell your soul to the devil" to get rich?
The answer in my case is yes, but it was a gradual process that I wasn't aware of, it just sort of happened year by year, and then one day I woke up and said, "yes, I am Lucifer's slave."
Fortunately most people believe in God and Lucifer.
And refrain to do things for moral concerns, which are actually religious concerns, the fear of retribution.
Makes the world a better world.
Well, if you do not take into account the people who kill people for religious reasons.
But anyway, overall the balance is probably positive...
Discussion is an exchange of knowledge, argument is an exchange of ignorance
No question about this, that's why in the end it all boils down to where one draws the line on individual right vs wrong beliefs. For me the issue of being caught or not has no relationship between the right or wrong of an act.Originally Posted by chinthee

As I am sure you are as well in spite of your comment re selling your soul to the devil. BTW there is to my mind nothing wrong with taking advantage of a country's business/financial laws. I have done so myself many times. Having said that however, as an extreme example I would not want to make a fortune selling children into slave labor or prostitution because it was culturally acceptable!Originally Posted by chinthee

I think they're up to their eyeballs dealing with all the corruption in the US at the moment.Originally Posted by chinthee

Being able to buy a porsche or two for the weekend and a Merc for daily runnings, a handfull of properties in the US and Asia and maybe the odd strip of beach front land does not mark someone out as being particularly wealthy in my book.
I would say true wealth is measured in other ways than financial, material and assumed status. Some people will never get this, others realise when it's to late, but some catch on to this prety quickly in life and become contented, happy, people.
I'm not rich but i'm wealthy.

^^^^^^ yes, its all about quality of life, innit.
Its easy to be rich enough to have good quality of life whilst working, but the trick is to make enough so you can continue partying whilst in retirement up to the last day.
i consider myself semi-retired as I dont really work but oversee a few small business ventures. However, I am constantly worrying about what will happen in 30 years down the line... I guess I need to save more.
Oh, you know about the Viking mythology...damm not bad for a yank...Originally Posted by Norton
