I'm very serious about this. I have had a chance to know many very rich jews. And, they come from all walks of life. My kids went to a very exclusive private (non government) school, and many rich jews had kids there. Very nice people too for the most part, but really, doctors, lawyers, oil barons, heirs to fortunes, you name it....

^yeah, could be. And, I've spent most of my professional life doing business in China, and can tell you that the Chinese share many of the same money-grabbing characteristics. If Hitler had succeeded, he probably would have had the Japanese wipe out the Chinese too.

    Wow.

That pic of Don Rickles looks like "The Thing."

    Scary.

    And Antrobertson:

Can I borrow a couple of bones?

Can you wire me about $250 USD?

Something came up, and I'm short of funds.

    I'm anxiously waiting your reply.

The Jews and Chinese share an important characteristic, namely they are both clannish and distrust outsiders. They take care of and do business with each other in preference to outsiders, for this reason.

They are both often naturally entrepreunerial too- and in the West at least it is the entrepreneur, the risk taker, who can clean up like noone else, financially speaking. They have their racial network to back them up here too, in terms of seed capital and giving their product or service a try.

They also often share three other very desirable characteristics in terms of wealth accumulation- a belief in education, parents invest in their children; industriousness- they work hard; and thrift- they accumulate capital to earn more, rather than blow it on fancy things whilst still on the road to wealth. Wealth, when earned, tends to thought of in terms of generations also.

Generalising of course, but true nonetheless.

^Yes, Sabang you are very right. And, unlike the rest of us, when one of the Jews or Chinese fail, there is a cultural safety net to catch them. The rest of us are on our own, and when we fail, nobody is there to catch us.

First one (in Oz) - conspicous consumption and poor investments. Still, I made it too easy in the first place, didn't bother me.

Second one (HK) - Divorce, company fraud and a long running tax battle. Had the good sense to salt some away in real estate though, so lucky to have 'enough' left over. Barely- if I had left my money in USD, it would not be enough.

No complaints- I grew thoroughly sick and tired of the greed, vanity, dishonesty and general bullshit of the business world anyway. In business, people are your worst enemies- never underestimate their greed, and opportunism. If there is a buck in it, assume they will stab you in the back, including your wife.

Buffaloes in Tagalog are Carabao. Lost some money in the Fil's- I should be the proud owner of two condo's in Boracay, but....
Sabang, hats off to you. At least you had the balls to go out and stake your claim. More than can be said of most weaklings who never try. You have my respect.

On a similar and related note, I'll bet any one of you (us) would do something illegal to make big money if you thought you could get away with it.
