I saw American barge foreman get $12 an hour in 1973 in the arabian gulf and a Brit could not top over $5 and was not qualified for that as far as the company was concerned, In Saudi only American were allowed supt. positions and if the company did not have them the Saudi would not issue a contract for the job.
