country I live in for day to day expenses etc
home country for some savings,
offshore accounts for rest of savings.
In Thailand, Siam Commercial Bank.
In Europe, Bank of Scotland, Guernsey.
Siam Commercial is for me. One of the best banking experiences I have had in Thailand and back home. Friendly service wit smile and efficiency. You will not wait in line for hours like other banks I have seen.
I agree Siam commercial are good (several times robbed customers tho...)
Well I have heard stories but I do not know if any of them are true. I have heard of people putting large sums of money in thai banks then finding the money missing. And the authorities doing nothing about it. Of course this is urban legend but I do not want to be the one to find out. I would like to keep my money out of the U.S. if possible! Has anyone had there money ripped of from a bank?
If you have had good luck with a offshore bank pm me and let me know the name of the bank and contact details.
Don't under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^ mate, big sums of money should go into offshore banks, google the phrase for a start, not thai banks.
I don't like SCB, but I do like Kasikorn. Where is my branch? Soi 33 of course!
Transfered money from the UK to Siam Commercial and it was all there within a day (normally takes 5) and a lot more than expected (got an exchange rate of 75 when the rate was about 73 to the pound) and generally they seem quite good.
I have used these banks and can recommend them.Originally Posted by bbigman21
