Well, this is Thailand - he is supposed to becoming today and installing Super Fast internet in my studio - they said he will get here before midday-shall we have a poll on the reliability of this?

Being a Thai company, I'm sure they will not turn up or he will turn up late and fuck it up or not know how to connect to Apple - if I am wrong then my next post should be in the afternoon and posted from the comfort of my own home.

My True DSL works great in Bangkok. Rarely have troubles, though there are times when it's slow at the BRAS, which is telecom talk for the central office.

My TOT connecting was only about two months late and the only reason it got hooked up was I called the office and told them they had until this afternoon to come and hook it up or I wouldnt let them in and I will cancel the contract.
To my suprise they turned up and hooked in the line. Then it was just finding someone that could tell me how to get the modem password to go on the net, after a bit more foking around I found my self in a shitty little dump were a monkey put in the password for me. Now I have the latest hi speed 2m connection that works some times and is getting slower each foking day

Never had a problem with true, if they say they're coming round they are generally on time. Best to take the mobile number of the guy who comes as it's easier to contact him with any problems than to go through the true phone system.

don't you just get connected by the ISP remotely and given a user name/password?

that's the way my tt&t did it.

I think they give you the choice whether they install the modem or not, it's about 500 extra... but the modem comes free with the internet, so it has to be delivered whatever.

I think it's free to get the modem installed, although it's so simple to do it's not really needed. You can pick up the modem when you go to TRUE to sign the contract I think.

3. True will be reasonably efficient but 'Scamp's Law' will mean he's back in an internet cafe tonight wishing he could be at home surfing porn.

Maddie and Klongmaster are right (except for the porn bit - porn is a media for people with no imagination and last week I turned down a 40,000 month job filming and editing ladyboy porn because, contarary to what I was pitched - I would not look good on my CV).

Well the dippy young woman called when she said she would (before 3pm) and I didn't have a clue what she was on about - it was a muddle of broken English, apologies for any inconvenience and every other word was 'Sir'.

From what I could make out the guy doing the installation has many problems but tomorrow he can come at 4pm but because of my building he will only be able to connect from outside my building but I will need to contact my reception to locate the wire.

WTF??????????

When she apologised I said it was no problem as I had been warned True were useless and would let me down - this went over her head and I asked her to repeat her instructions

Typical fucking Thailand, all sugar and smiles and arse kissing but shitty service and don't have a clue what is going on.

I explained I had a job to do tomorrow which is why I specifically requested today.

Why exactly do I need to contact my reception and notify them of whatever she was explaining which I couldn't figure out? I have paid nearly 4,000 baht!!! All I should be required to do is answer the knock at my door.

Useless cnuts!!!!!!!

The TRUE guy would usually be the one contacting the office to connect your line up.

I knew it wouldn't happen today and for exactly the reason I said. TRUE are only reasonably efficient, you gotta get on their case sometimes to get the job done properly.

If it was me I would have called them at 12 30 to find out what was going on. If you gave them a bit of grief at that time then they could probably had got someone else sent out to you and got you connected today.

Now if the guy doesn't turn up at 4 pm tomorrow you are screwed again, you should have made them make an early appointment so when they inevitably miss it you still have time to get someone down in the afternoon.
