There's something wrong there, but I don't know the word I'm looking for.
I read one of her books. She wants to imprint her socialist ideas in kids. Feking Harry cheated all through the test (the golden pot book or whatever it was called), getting the answers from friends and one teacher. Then you got the Hermie chick trying to get union rights for elves who don't even want it. FO I saw the brainwashing in the book.
And 'Through the Looking Glass' encourages drug taking with its references to hallucinogenic mushrooms. 'Black Beauty' encourages cruelty to animals. 'The Witches' (Dahl) promotes cruel practices to ladies who wear gloves & have nostrils reminiscent of seashells and 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory' is a cruel and violent social commentary, while 'The Great Glass Elevator' contains a biting satire on the American Presidency of the time. And don't get me started on Enid Blyton...

Could it be that they're all just books that kids enjoy reading? Surely, anything that gets kids enchanted by books is preferable to cartoons & video games?

Maybe that's a little too general there is a ton of books I wouldn't want my kids to read and likewise video games aren't all bad either. Just like McD's it's all in moderation and why parents need to be parents and moderate what their kids are doing, reading and watching...

I personally think that Harry Potter does set some bad examples all around so I don't expose my kids to it that's my choice as a parent. I allow them an occasional McD's for all of our sakes but not even once a month. I don't allow them to smoke though and the fact that they are only 3 and 4 has nothing to do with that..

I have to say though I have noticed a big difference in their personalities and level of intelligence with limiting their cartoons some of which I think are the worst.. I give them more educational things like animal planet and such...

Wow! I just realized I got a bit off topic there...Ok back on topic..

Better to write books on the dole than smoke drugs? The tax she must have paid since she made it should be more than compensate for the doll money she used?

Me too. Well said Jetty. Unions and their supporters (especially the French ones who post on TD ) are self serving scum with no interest in the longevity of the companies, only with what they can screw out of them and to qualify their existence.
    That might describe most employees.

Anyway, slate Americans all you want (no really, go ahead, their TV is miles better. What do we get? Casualty. They get ER. We get The Bill, they got CSI. They had Friends, Frasier... We got Eastenders and Corrie. I mean come on, thats hardly fair?!
