Super Bowl 59! Chiefs V Eagles.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Chiefs are chasing a historic three-peat; Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown are looking to gain revenge for the Eagles.
Kansas City won a 38-35 thriller in 2023 in Arizona and something like that again will go down very nicely.
The Eagles generally have the better side, a star-studded roster, but the Chiefs have that winning mentality and have been grinding out close victories all season.
So who will lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy in the Superdome on Sunday?

Why would Super Bowl three-peat be so special?

Just getting this far is already historic. No previous back-to-back champion has made it to the Super Bowl the following season.
Many neutrals hoped the Buffalo Bills, led by this season's Most Valuable Player Josh Allen, would make it to Super Bowl 59.
But the Chiefs beat them 32-29 in the AFC Conference Championship and as they clinched victory, the team's play-by-play announcer Mitch Holthus said the Chiefs had "gone past Pluto".
"To get to this point, to go further than any team has ever been, it transcends the NFL and becomes part of world sport history," he told BBC Sport.
"But to win this game, I think it would be an achievement that would never be done again."
This is Kansas City's fifth Super Bowl in six years and they are going for a fourth win.
Many neutrals are bored of seeing them win; some have even claimed they receive preferential treatment from officials.
When hosting the NFL's annual awards on Thursday, rapper Snoop Dogg even joked that Sunday's game will be an "incredible match-up between the Eagles... and the refs".
But Holthus dismissed that as a "false narrative" and this week NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said it was "ridiculous", while Mahomes is happy to keep being "a villain".
    Shalom

    The anticipation is too much!

I've been on the two litre cups of Coke since 7am and sank a few footlong hotdogs with extra cheese already.

    In case you were wondering...

Jon Batiste will sing the National Anthem at the 2025 Super Bowl. The NFL
announced in November 2024 that the New Orleans native will kick off the pre-game festivities with “The Star-Spangled Banner.” He follows country music legend Reba McEntire, who delivered the anthem at Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.

Wonder if the refs are going to protect Patricia Mahomes, and get him his 3rd straight SB?

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — As a student, Donald Trump played high school football. As a business baron, he owned a team in an upstart rival to the NFL and then sued the established league. As president, he denigrated pros who took a knee during the national anthem as part of a social justice movement.
On Sunday, he adds to that complicated history with the sport when he becomes the first president in office to attend a Super Bowl.
Trump’s appearance at the Superdome in New Orleans to watch the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles follows the NFL’s decision to remove the “End Racism” slogans that have been stenciled on the end zones since 2021.
Trump recently ordered the cancelation of programs that encourage diversity, equity and inclusion across the federal government and some critics see the league’s decision as a response to the Republican president’s action. But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league’s diversity policies are not in conflict with the Trump administration’s efforts to end the federal government’s DEI programs.

Trump, who attended the Super Bowl in 1992, has avoided choosing sides in Sunday’s matchup despite public comments and social media posts that suggest an affinity for Kansas City.
Last week, when asked which team would win, Trump said, “I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner.” That appeared to be a reference to the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes.

Trump also posted congratulations to the Chiefs in January after they won the AFC Championship.

The president played football as a student at the New York Military Academy. As a New York businessman in the early 1980s, he owned the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League. Trump had sued to force a merger of the USFL and the NFL. The USFL eventually folded.
