The strange tale of the woman jailed for something but she doesn't say what

WTF kind of journalism is this?

A successful British woman now faces 20 years inside a 'hellhole' prison in Thailand after she visited to contact a client.

Rachel Stallard, who works as a private estates consultant, hails from Bournemouth but headed over to the South-East Asian country to collect money from a client after a long business deal. However, when she arrived she was taken by authorities and detained in a basic prison for four nights – left with no food or water, according to Rachel.

Rachel had a small dispute with her client, which led to her being arrested and charged with "seven of the most serious charges there are in Thailand." She took to the professional social media platform, LinkedIn, to share her traumatic experience.

The estates company had been working with a client in Thailand, who had used their services to the value of £30,000 before they ghosted their emails and calls. When she arrived, Rachel visited the client, and described him as "irritated" at being approached despite being a "millionaire."

Rachel said she was then thrown in a Thai prison cell with no food or water and was forced to bribe a police guard to give her scraps. She contacted a colleague in Bangkok who brought her water, chicken burgers, wet wipes and mosquito spray while she tried to get through to the UK Embassy.

"I sat in that jail cell for days, not knowing the time of day, imagining what my life was about to become and it was terrifying," she wrote in her post.

"[The authorities] were useless, even though they knew the charges were totally fake. In fact on the 3rd call the lady who answered hung up once I told her my name." She claimed she has already been found guilty of two of the seven charges, before even giving a statement.

"I had to call my 80 yr old mum and explain I was probably going to prison for 20 years, and to tell my daughter as I only had the one call," she said. As for the financial side, Rachel was forced to fork out £14,000 on her bail, £24,000 in legal fees and is awaiting her trial in six to eight years.

The consultant has also spent £70,000 to be able to go back home. She claims to be "broke and in debt," trying to rebuild her life.

"All because a client who has millions didn't want to pay his staff wages or my fees," Rachel concluded.

A Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office spokesperson told the Mail: "We supported a British woman who was arrested in Thailand and were in contact with the local authorities."

"In Hua Hin, she spent a day with an older and formerly abused female elephant. Indeed, Ms. Stallard told her social media followers that she bonded with the 60-year-old creature. The UK businesswoman suggested that both females had been deplorably treated."

I'm struggling to feel sorry for her.

On the morning of November 13, the UK woman and her associate entered the upmarket condo of Ms. Stallard unannounced. The address was Soi Promchit in Klongton Nuea, located in the busy Wattana district of the Thai capital. Indeed, Ms. Stallard obtained a key card to his apartment from a private nurse employed by a wealthy Italian man.In short, Ms. Stallard was there to demand payment for work completed by her in September 2024. Later reports suggest this amount was £27,743.40.
Nonetheless, the Italian businessman was less than impressed. In particular, given the unauthorized access to his home without notice. At the same time, he disputed the debt.”

“At length, this led to a fracas between Mr. Stefano and the man accompanying Ms. Stallard, Mr. Jon. CCTV footage emerged in Bangkok this week showing the aftermath of the altercation. Mr. Jon can be seen bearing down on Mr. Stefano on the ground. Undoubtedly, the Italian appears to be in a distressed state”

“Afterwards, he told police he was thrown to the ground forcefully and suffered an injury during the assault.

Subsequently, the UK woman and her associate are reported to have tried to bind the Italian. However, in fear for his life, he relented. Mr. Stefano quickly agreed to transfer a sum of £24,702 to Ms. Stallard online.
After that, the UK businesswoman and her friend left the condominium. Nevertheless, they took with them a number of smartphones. Additionally, they also carried out keycards to other properties owned by the wealthy Italian

Thai police took a serious view of what occurred. Indeed, they charged Ms. Stallard with no fewer than seven serious offences. These certainly included home invasion, robbery, attempted robbery, unlawful detention, and assault in addition to extortion

My thoughts too. There are risks using violence in business disputes. And the risks are more substantial when doing it abroad. She's a fxcking entitled moron.

You and Willy don’t get to make a twit fest on any thread you chose. It’s annoying and tiresome.

I missed the 2 posts; I hope they weren't amusing posts. I need a good laugh today. Perhaps a beer later in the day will have to do.
