    What is wrong with my...

We all have those niggly problems that have bugged us for ages and would be great to solve.

I reckon that there is such a wealth of knowledge available on TeakDoor that the answers can be found right here. This thread is for anything that doesn't work right, won't start, gone a funny colour or just ain't right.

I want to avoid medical issues or I could fill the thread with various 'what is wrong with my toe nails' or 'what is wrong with my crotch' questions. I seem to have a near permanent rash.

Anyway, what is wrong with my tree?

This pair of evergreens were our Christmas trees back in 2007 and after the festive season I set them free and planted them in the garden. Now the one on the left is a fine, healthy tree around 7m to 8m in height. The one on the right was the same up to a year ago, but now it seems to be dying, from the top, downwards.

    Any ideas?

Those are Norfolk Island pines. All sorts of things could be the problem but the thing that stands out to me is they are planted too close. Perhaps the weaker tree is getting murdered by the healthy one. Maybe cut the sick one down and let the other flourish. Those trees get really big.

Serves him right for being posh and having 2 Christmas trees. We only ever had one. If we were lucky.

They look very close together for large adult trees. What sort of diameter would their roots reach out to?

^ They were only little when I planted them.

I guess there was a lack of foresight there.

    Here’s mine.

Haven’t decided what to do. In a few months it will be cutting off the end of the trellis or whacking back that beautiful dracaena.

In.my case not a lack of foresight just Mrs bld refusing to believe that a Mulberry tree a papaya tree a Guava tree a mango tree and those rattly bean looking things are appropriate in a small yard What is wrong with my...-20241110_134807-jpg
Only the papaya tree and the mulberry tree are producing fruit once it stops it will get heavily cut back and I can regain access to a small shed.
He promised to headbutt me, if he ever saw me. Charming.

I guess that my solution would be that he 'never saw me'.

You had one Xmas tree? Oooh you were lucky. We only ever got a Xmas branch. Saved from someone’s tree discarded the previous year.

We had two that year, but none since. That works out at about 1/8th of a tree per year.

    Hardly excessive, I feel.

Thanks Misskit, I don't know how we ended up with them as Christmas trees in Thailand.

All things considered, I'm just going to do nothing and see what happens.
