    A sea slug.

Not edible as far as I know but I'm sure that the wife would give it a try.

    ^ Very nice Nid.

I considered a comment but I think that my other threads have enough smutty innuendos already.

I notice a couple of 'fan worms' (?) in the background. I'm not sure about the correct name, but a filter feeder of some sort.

I see with your video library you are uniquley positioned to start Only Fan Worms, slug it out.
Thanks for the pix and to Oggy for that extraordinary Starfish, does any predator like the crabs or other culture eat them?

I pulled a starfish up on my ROV in the North Sea and chucked it in a box full of seawater we use for our CP Probe.

Fucker died before I came back on shift and I wondered if he got the bends from a rapid accent.

Chucked him back in anyway to feed the crabs.

Many different animals eat sea stars, including fish, sea turtles, snails, crabs, shrimp, otters, birds and even other sea stars. Though the sea star's skin is hard and bumpy, a predator can eat it whole if its mouth is large enough. Predators with smaller mouths can flip the sea star over and eat the softer underside.

^ I think that haddock is winning the thread so far!

Nid may have a nice starfish, but he is blessed with good visibility so has an unfair advantage!

Deep water usually means low energy and therefore fine sediment. This can cause us a lot of problems as this ling so ably demonstrates.

^ It's the way to go.

Unless you fancy garden peas, of course.

Not strictly fish, but a couple of hard hats.

Hard hats, coke cans, water bottles etc, are great to calibrate your size estimations. You can imemdiately see the size of this ling.

I'm surprised it sunk to be honest.

Usually a hard hat floating in the water would trigger a man overboard alarm and call for a muster and headcount.

Considering another collecting hobby - unusual glass.

Then I had second thoughts, just more dust gatherers.

A couple of nice pieces nonetheless...

    There's a challenge!

But not today... a really good pun takes time, and I'm no brain sturgeon.

    A couple of jelly fish.
