It's the company that makes a night out, not the bar. Could be anywhere, and if you're looking at the scenery or care about the list of cocktails then you're either alone or you went out with the wrong mates/girl/boy/whateverwokenameyoucaretomention

    ^ Too true Troy.

Strangely enough I had a dream about the Crown Royalle in Patpong 2 last night which was my starting place when out on the lash in Bangkok.

Had Izzy, the landlord, to greet you with great staff and fantastic, interesting clientele.

That was the mid 90's and it was a great place to meet up.

Well. I can agree to a point. But it all depends on why you went to the bar. Many times I go have a bevvy and want to be alone and watch a game or people watch after a day of work. If its a night out with the guys to get lit up, then that does matter as does the bar.

I agree that good company is important, but if the only offer is bottled chemicals pretending to be beer, the company won’t stay long?

In Bangers: Used to be the Bull's Head and then No Idea, but both changed not for the better.

No idea was cool though on Soi 22 before it went full ressie.

J-Bar opposite W-istrict is pretty cool too.

    Good point.

I hate 'plastic pubs', Weatherspoons and suchlike. Always loved the old fashioned local with saloon, spit 'n' sawdust public, separated by an off-licence. I haven't been to one of those in years, but enjoyed the bars in and around Manchester that Joe took me to. Good draught beers and some nice characters that make great evenings out.

Some great bars in Bavaria and the prices are way cheaper than the UK.

^But those two Manc idiots love Moretti.

Taxation on beer is much lower in Germany, as you know.

It is seen as culturally significant.

They are about to launch New Grolsch!! in the UK.

What’s new about is that it’s something like 2.8 ABV

Manchester could quadruple that list with better pubs in the original post.

Trouble is doing them all in one session.
