I used to stay in a little rental house with a log fire in Port Stephens/Nelsons Bay when I was working at RAAF Base Williamtown on the F/A-18s before it become the home to the new F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters

Port Stephens is home to the Port Stephens lighthouse which shines its beam out from Fingal Island and is indeed about 800 klicks south of Tweed. Beautiful area for a few days ambling and hiking. Have not been there for almost 20 years I think.

Yes Nelson's Bay, Anna Bay, Tea Gardens, hinterland to Barrington Tops one of my favourite areas in OZ , many happy memories there.

For newbies it is the area 50-100 km north of the Hunter Valley in central NSW well worth a visit , also Dorrigo, Bellingen, Dungog, Gloucester tops and Girvan where hidden in the forest is an extraordinary tall house!Stayed with an ancient Irish family nearby.

Was also a member on here, but didn't post much. I don't remember any stories of him going out Loopering birds, quite the opposite, was a very reserved kinda guy over in Ubon, that painted a good picture of life there.
