when I was a kid (8+) I used to cycle from my home through those woods on the hill and down to Plumstead

once there had been a big flood and I saw a red double decker stuck.

my life as a kid (1)

in the woods were some good ponds with newts

the answer is still Putney though

They also had a pond in the middle of the woods with massive Koi Carp in, if only then I had known how much they were worth I would have nicked them all, that was nearer shooters hill I believe.
