Looper has sound knowledge that his victims have undertaken medical examinations as part of their immigration process.

    Right, where was I...?

After I escaped my Luanda lock down I finally made it offshore. The Flotel was decent enough and working on that small boat was fun too... both days! Some bastards found the oil leak and that was the end of that. A 10 day total trip with 2.5 days work. Not bad.

Got back to Aberdeen and 5 days later I was flying out to my next assignment... in Thailand!

My first flight to Amsterdam was delayed, with the usual luck that I have when flying this also caused a knock on effect, resulting in an overnight in Amsterdam. So I went out for a wander and managed to take in the Scotland Portugal game in some week bar down near the Red Light District.

KLM decided to fly me to Munich the next day to get a Thai Airways flight to BKK. The light was late to take off and I had to leg it to make my connection and I only just did. That airport is massive.

So I made it to Bangkok 3 days later and my luggage was nowhere to be seen. I'm a day late and still in the same clothes for 3 days, straight to Vibhavadee Hospital for a Chevron medical. The Vessel was in port near Hua Hin, since the Songkhla Port was full. No time to wait for baggage, although they did give me 4k thb for my inconvenience. I then had to zoom around Bangkok on a Sunday trying to find Boots, coveralls etc and all the clothes, toiletries etc required for a month offshore. 5 hour taxi to Prachuap Port and I made the boat.

    I've done it.

I had pretty much pencilled in a year away from my family to get to this point and there I was Offshore Thailand on an ROV job, 72 days from the start of the mission.

Then 4 days into the project we have to make a port call and I'm sitting on a boat 3km away from my house, I can see the lights on my street. No getting off though, work to be done, repair made and back in the field.

It's been a great trip, I've now progressed onto Work Class ROVs and there's a lot to learn. This job will run for minimum 6 months extendable for another 2 years.

I'm currently on a 12 hour crew boat, headed for Songkhla.

    100 days later.

(will upload pics when I get to better internet)

That should say 'Weed Bar', although I do not partake. Just as well as I was drug tested at the port.

    I'm over there myself shortly.

I've not been for almost 20 years but I used to go 4 or 5 times a year before that and it was always good fun.

I would stick to the Heineken while my mates got stoned - I'd maybe have the odd toke although I don't really partake either - but I was told the Red Light is basically just a couple of small streets now and you can't get a beer in the coffee shops!

Does 12 hour crew boat mean you work 12 hours and sleep/rest 12 hours?

This job will run for minimum 6 months extendable for another 2 years.
that sounds good. How long do you work on the boat? 2 weeks on, 2 off?

Fantastic result dirk. You realised that the training was gonna be a game changer and ponied up the wedge and hopped on the plane knowing that you might not see the family for a year. Big respect. A hundred days later your back in Thailand. Fantastic result. I Ken you've a lot of offshore experience and impressed that your building on that with the rov thingo. Take me hat off to you. Crack on
Once you go Goat, you'll never go broke. Great advice from Toppers dad.
