The contents of my skimmer box

I've long envied Snakeeyes' 'Thai Baht Rates' thread. It's simple, informative, easy to update and can go on for ever.

I've been wondering about doing a similar thread and was going to do 'The temperature and humidity of my home office', which I planned to update every morning but I thought that could get a bit boring after a few months.

Anyway, this is a thread that I nearly started many years ago on a Korat forum but decided against it... a decision I now regret as over the years we've had some interesting findings. I don't think that this thread will be all that interesting to some but hopefully a record of outdoor pool skimmer box contents may be useful to anyone planning a pool in Thailand?

Every morning I plan to record the contents of my pool skimmer box. While I'm away at work maybe I can persuade the daughter to send me a daily photo to post up.

It may be interesting to see how the contents vary over the year with changing seasons. Maybe anyone else from across Thailand with a pool can join in? Maybe there are differences in skimmer box contents from across the country, or even internationally?

I want to keep a simple format, so I'll kick it off today with:

    Location: Korat
Skimmer Box Contents: Baby frog (partially decomposed), assorted grass and leaves

^ If and when I ever find PJG's panties in the skimmer box they will simply be photographed and logged on this thread, the same as anything else.

^^ If/when that occurs, you might find some cut off penis in there too.

If you do not post a pic of that, you shall be forgiven

    I will contribute Mendy.

Couple of leaves today. Yesterday morning was a dead Asian painted frog. I get those frequently.

    Nice one Stumpy!

You've raised the bar by identifying the frog species. I'll try and follow suit.

I get those floaters a lot. Sadly maybe couple a week. Been slow recently because of no rain. This time of year my skimmer stays really clean.

I must admit that I was hoping for something a bit more exotic.

^ You get the good and the bad days of course.

But you know how full these skimmer boxes can get after a big fly hatch!

OH Yeah. I have had days where I take the lid off and jump back as some of the creatures are very much alive. Rainy season I could probably sell the contents to some hill people to make some sort of soup.

^ My wife would take it off your hands!

After the big hatches I rinse off all the flies in fresh water and then feed them to the chickens.

But I don't want to give any more spoilers so early in the thread!

I'm officially on holiday, heading for the airport shortly first stop bali.
Can hotel skimmer boxes be included? I'm staying in a variety of hotels only one of which doesn't have a pool. I reckon hotel skimmer boxes are bound to be interesting due to the variety of punters using the pool. I will have to be pretty stealthy taking these pics though because it might seem a bit odd to anyone looking on? Unless there TD members. Love a good skimmer box pic and story over a bee, err herbal tea.

    Happy holidays, mate!

Please include all the skimmer box photos you can. I generally blame the taking of inappropriate photos on having a daughter. Just tell the hotel staff that your boys are doing a school project.

    Simple format...

The pool boy adding various chemicals can change the contents of your skimmer box!
