Looper seems to be doing alright... Good on him. Nice.
Could be opened as a mobile Ann Summers given the amount of bras and undies in the fudger.
I have decided to embrace the over-55s traditional mode of locomotion with a Volvo
Contrary to popular jaag mythology mine only ever had 1 oil leak. That was when I bought her in 2009. Turned out to just be the oil pan gasket so an easy fix.
Since then she never dropped a drip or even burned any oil in the subsequent 15 years.
I was hoping she would pass away peacefully at home and I was planning to push her into the forest to be consumed by vines like Angkor Wat and become an abandoned car that I could post in Chitty's thread in 2037.
But fate had different plans and she is now in the knackers yard.
^Nice car, Looper.
May I also say, that I love your landscape bicycle pics a lot! The scenery is stunning, and especially love the peachy sunset one!
Making my itching to get my bike out hopefully in a month or less. We have some bike trips planned.
I would love to experience your bike rides, stunning scenery and eye candy.
Not been on a bike ride for months now due to our wet Autumn and Winter, might get a ride out next month in Malta and update the "on my bike" thread.
^Malta looks like a nice place to ride Joe. I have explored all the Canaries with a touring bike and tent. It is good way to explore the islands.
Senorita was keen to get out on the bike after her 3 month flounce
Forecast was rain but nary a cloud in sight
The geese came to partake of our picnic
So we beat a retreat for some of her home-made spring rolls that she had been hiding under a bushel and some sliced up chicken schnitzel strips snatched from the hungry old age pensioners at her work
And some kind of exotic star shaped fruit to keep it healthy
Bollickin hot it is this week so time to saddle up and pretend it is summer.
I normally like winter to get a break from the QLD summer heat.
But this week it was so hot even this ancient tree had wilted
It was cranked up to 30 today with a top of 32 predicted for Sat'day
At least it is a nice dry winter heat with -15% humidity
I was annoyed that my old bike rack did not fit the new car. But then I realised I can squeeze the bike inside this motor since it has fold down rear seats.
Off to scan the beach wildlife on this sunny Sunday
Spankalicious
These are permanent sculptures at Nobby's Beach which I had not come across before
Found a sunny spot at Mermaid Beach to sip my diet pepsi and munch my cheetos and people watch
A sight for sore eyes on a sunny holiday weekend
Senorita was cutting a swathe along the mangrove boardwalk on her e-bike in the warm weather
We stopped for a pleasure picnic of sliced pears and watched the punters haul in their tinnies (small boats)
Same VW as I saw last week. Nice faux-weathering paint job.
Back home for a soak in the tub to soothe the muscles.
The candles adding a genuine spiritual touch to the bathing ceremony since I was a head altar boy at the church (that means a leading alter boy - not the priests private sacristy preferences) so I was in charge of dousing the candles with the brass douser at the end of mass. The smell of smoke snaking from the extinguished wick always takes me back to my youthful churchly duties.
Then recharge with some super-spicy Tom Yam
Shoulda taken the piccy a bit earlier but this is my best batch of Tom Yam in a long time and it is easy to get distracted from the food photo
I just thought you had a really, really cool keyboard that I didn't fully understand, until realizing the remote was along the top of it.![]()
29c so time for a beach bash
Tide was low enough to ride along the sand in the arvo
I saw a tandem for sale last year and fancied it but how often would you use it really...
I had to slow down to admire the clever gearing system for joining the tandem drive
(I have heard good things about those Madison saddles too)
Time for a beach brewski break
A beautific vision hoved into view before my eyes on the beach...
As it hoved ever closer I was flabber-smacked to crack eyes on the Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Sydney DDG-42
I worked in Adelaide on the design development of this vessel many moons ago.
Cockle-warming and slightly surreal to see your sweat and toil as a technician come to fruition as an apparition from the moist sea haar over a beach brew

Either that water gets surprisingly deep surprisingly quickly or she's been lent to the RNZN.![]()
^ There's a nice reef there she could start mapping!![]()
That is Snapper Rocks surf break. Very rocky and craggy!
She was amazingly close to the shore but she only has a 5m draft compared to over 9m for an Arleigh Burke. She was safely down to Sydney for the Royal fleet inspection by King Charlie a few days later
I managed to figure out why my gears shit themselves on the beach.
Sorted and off for some tooled up mobile gardening without risk of a scooter tumble.
A balmy 31c meant it was a day to tackle the Northern River Rail Trail
A Nigelesque composition
The railway line was closed 20 years ago and since then they have ripped up the tracks and turned it into a 25km bicycle path
The tunnel at the 15km mark is 524m long
I tried cycling as far as possible without lights just for fun but once you are 200m in there is not enough light from the tunnel mouth to even illuminate the reflectors at the side so you are just cycling towards the distant tunnel mouth in a black void
But stopping and turning your lights off lets you see the glow worms
They are insect larvae that trap flies with luminous lures
Many creaking and crumbling rail bridges along the way
I was glad I brought 2 litres of ice cold lemon as it was hot and sweaty, and water melon never tasted so good
Trees growing from the ground all the way through the old bridges
Stopped for a Hail Mary in Dunbible
When the Lordy Jesus comes back it will be in Northern NSW
Praise thy lord Loops!
Outstanding pics![]()
