Err, Tax, in your evidently increasing dotage you seem to have forgotten that the UK is a democratic country in which government is led by elected ministers of state who ensure legislation is drafted and implemented in accordance with their policies and the laws relating thereto. Civil servants simply ensure that this is achieved as efficiently and effectively within budgets allocated to them by the Treasury.

I have to say that in all my time as a civil servant within four departments I have never encountered a single instance when a colleague has attempted to thwart an initiative mandated by government.

I know it is fashionable to still cling to the notion that we were as portrayed in Yes Minister and that we were all guilty of groupthink ( whatever that means ) or acting as some existential hive organism often referred to as the ‘Blob’ but the truth of the matter is that the only folk who subscribe to these myths are usually idiots, right wing loons, gormless chinless Brexitory dross, Col.
