What the fuck are you on about Cybil? Look- and-learn? I don't get it. Are you spending to much time thinking of my svelte physique? Or are you simply confusing me with some other coont? Strange.

MM, I was based in Kuantan, on the east coast across the Malaysian peninsular from KL, between around 1998 and 2002. I have very fond memories from that time but also remember that I was glad to leave when the time came when I migrated down to Singapore for a couple of years. I think the Muslimness of Kuantan got to me in the end, but I believe that the east coast of the peninsular, Pahang and Terengganu, is a lot more Muslim than the west side around KL which is much more relaxed and Chinese, so maybe that wouldn't be an issue for you.

In fact, a very good, life long friend of mine in Kuantan had his kids at the international school at the time... The International Garden School maybe it was called...? It was a long time ago. It was a small community in Kuantan so I also got to know the head of that international school, who I believe has now been the head of an international school over KL way for some years, although I have lost touch. He's a Brit, a northerner unfortunately, and a Man City supporter to boot if I remember correctly, so considering the fan base I guess there's a very good chance he would know Chitty .

As I said, I have fond memories of Malaysia although it was my first experience of SE Asia so everything was new. I far prefer the Indian food in Malaysia to Thai food, although the Malay and Chinese food you can keep. One thing, my time ashore was alleviated by offshore rotations which may have made things easier with regards to the Muslim stuff... I remember that it got to some of the guys working permanently on shore. I also remember that if I spent a long time onshore in Kuantan I found it necessary to take occasional trips up to Thailand for a break, either a flight to Phuket for a long weekend or a drive up to the Thai border for a couple of days in Sungai golok.

It may not be an issue for you, but I also remember that the Malaysian police were even more open to bribery than their Thai counterparts, which was good for me as I drank a lot back then and my behaviour was pretty reckless.

I would say just go for it. If I wasn't encumbered by life's baggage I would jump at any opportunity, pretty much anywhere (and Malaysia would definitely be a favourable option). That was always my philosophy when I was single because what's the worst that can happen? You don't like it - so move on after a suitable length of time.

I follow a lot of vloggers that have been in KL recently, and I heard there is two places that are little India in KL, Brickfields and another area that is even better that has a market, any ideas the name of it?

Thanks Mendip. That is cool that you spent time in Kuantan. It looks like a nice place as I was looking up that area as it is on the coast. I also heard that there is a heavy police and CCTV presence around. In fact, I was watching a vlog of a guy showing us around just one of the gargantuan malls in KL and there was a police in side the mall just standing there with a machine gun of sort. At least it'll be a pretty safe environment from what I read. Cheers for you thoughts and encouragement. I hope you are feeling better, and it looks like you are according to your thread (I read but may not respond).

Have a look at a map of KL and where the school is in relation to this.

From what I'm interpreting here, it may not be nearby as they haven't told you where yet. Which could be manageable or not so manageable depending on how "KL" it is.

Do you know a "rough" location yet?

If you are quite a way outside KL, it generally won't be much fun unless you are in Penang or perhaps a couple of others such as Johor/Ipoh and areas of Sarawak and Sabah like Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

I have lived in and visited many cities/states and they are very very different.

You need to seriously brush up on what to expect from Malaysia though, MM.

Or just send me a PM - unlike to that horrible bastard Willy - and I will reply.

It is about 30-40 mins outside of the city center (KLCC), but from what I read you can take a bus into downtown. The area I would be in has everything I would need. I guess I would only go downtown on the weekend. I'd like to try save some money, so my idea of fun wouldn't be like drinking every day or weekend, asI don't drink much anyway. It would mostly be working hard, and exploring different areas and places when I get a chance. I wouldn't travel outside of ML until after close to six months. I get a month off in mid June to mid July so may head to the Philippines or Bali or Thailand.. I have a lot of thoughts about the possible opportunity, but not thinking too far ahead as I may not even get the job. I also want to talk to other employees on the ground, as I am weary about schools after having a few negative experiences. I want to make sure everything is legit first before saying 'yes' if I get an offer. I'm sure you get it.

She’s interviewed with the principal, so of course she knows where the school is… or not. Because she is very dumb.

oh, she received multiple pms from me, and she knows that. Hence the slight backtracking now to claim maybe I was on ignore….which obviously does not explain how she could answer an ignored poster and send him/her a pm in the first place.

her stories have more holes in them than one of Mau’s fitness posts.

I spend most of my life interviewing people and checking qualifications to see if they are genuine.

If they haven't told you exactly where and who they are then stay away.

30-40 minutes outside the city, in no traffic = 1-2 hours in normal traffic. You could be stuck in Nilai!

as for wanting to speak with employees on the ground, again, and I’m sounding like a broken record, but I coulda helped you with that but you preferred to attention whore and lie about not receiving any of multiple pms…

But I guess if you have absolutely no intention of moving, attention whoring is the next best thing, eh?

Um, Hal is welcome to pm me, I'm not playing games as WK seems to. I did have him on ignore, you know how you can see what a person wrote even on ignore? That is what I do to quite a few people on here, so if he was on ignore and sent me msgs I didn't get them. I got one last night, with two sentences saying I was playing games. If people want to reach out by pm feel free.. I am not sending any pm's. My head is spinning with all this bs.

Thanks Hal for the info and everyone else that gave some good info. I'll leave this thread until I hear something. I don't feel like sharing my whole private stuff on here with all the details.

The only bs is coming from you.

And claiming you recieved some pms and not others is not how the ignore function works

    liar.

I’ll ask again, shall I screenshot my sent folder as proof?

I'm feeling upset, I'm going to leave now for awhile.
Why would he post a private msg where I asked for interview tips etc. Just forget it, I've already had the interview. I'm not pm'ing anyone. The only person I somewhat trust on this forum in Joe, as we've spoken by email and pm.
