Top 30 Nights out in the UK

Source: Aberdeen named among the 10 best cities for nightlife in the UK - Aberdeen Live

Top 30 Nights out in the UK-0_screenshot-2023-05-24-222917-png

Aberdeen makes 10th on the list and I'm surprised the average price of our pints are only higher than Derby and Burnley.

I've only ever had a night out in 4 of those places. Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow.

How many of these cities can you cross off the list?

Any good stories or memories come to mind?

    In Scotland?

There are no actual brothels, working girls are all online. I doubt any of them are local though, probably Eastern Europeans. There are a few strip clubs but I wasn't in any.

The hookers are around the harbour area and you should see the state of them. Junkies and freak shows.

Norwich is good for live music in pubs or a sunny afternoon at the Riverside.

The university towns were always the most fun.

As for Swansea only place I was barred from a nightclub before I entered, was with a crew of Tasmanian maes on tour , pissed on arrival I was changing from trainers in the car as one of our lads was literally bounced.

Luckily my days of brothel creepiers and stciky carpets over priced suds and music so deafening no need for small talk.

I early understood clubs were where the spotty and undesirable slowly paired off and the dregs limped off to a kebab shop in UK.

Ibiza , beach bars of Mexico Oz and Cuba even LOS a whole other scene, I do remember vaguely Newcastle on Tyne was like a cross bewteen Patpong ,Fight club and a mixed sauna bathed on Lynx and tobacco fumes, Gilrs in pelmet micro skirts to offer peak viewing and lads in T shirts in the icy Northern winters, I blame it on Helge the horrible and the rape and pillage Vikings, In the new woke era its consensual buggery and village people at the YMCA

knowing warrington all too well, apart from a brief spell in the 89-91 era when it had one of the best clubs ever, its pretty much 50/50 if youd get home in one piece most nights
    is that counts as good?

I am surprised a Samuel Smith London pub crawl wasn't on the cards.

York is indeed a great place, we were up there last October; love The North, it is where I belong.

David, the Fridge was an epic venue. Fabric still going and special mentions for Egg with it's closing time of 7am and obviously The Picture Works.

Did you ever go to any squat parties in Stratford? 12o'clock under Waterloo clock????? I have a feeling we might have had this discussion before.

I don't know why my name has been mentioned, but I did use to spend a lot of time in Aberdeen.

I seem to remember there was a one-legged hooker who worked down by the docks at the bottom of Market Street (I think)... anyway, the road running down to the docks from the Blackfriars pub (?)... it's been a while.

I remember one night I was heading back to the boat when she started hobbling along after me, shouting for business, but I escaped because she couldn't get over the metal fencing in the central reservation of the dual carriageway.

    That was a lucky escape.

Long ago before the interwebs to warn you I went with some American matelots on shore leave to a place called Union Street in Plymouth, once was enough half of Devon and Cornwall pissing or vomiting on the walls and that was just the cops, give me Emmy's nightclub as was at Kent Green Turnings nr Chittyland at Scholar Green now Bisto pub whatsoever that means.

Under the Benbow in Penzance was a tiny time warp dance floor like something out of the prisoner full of dancing maids and recharged seamen, happy days, thats not me on the roof overlooking the smuggling tunnels but often went up the wall

Cats Whiskers club in Burnley was good for a mass riot and running street battles back in the day if you happened to be dressed in anything that wasn't a shell suit.

That's the story I was after. Leggy Peggy. That road is Marischal Street. A pretty steep hill down to the Harbour Wall.

A fellow apprentice back in the day got fucked up in Aberdeen with no way to get back home to Stonehaven, so he walked down Marischal Street trying car doors and found one that was open and sprawled over the 2 front seats and went to sleep. He woke up later with the uncomfortable handbrake lever digging in and released it without even knowing where he was. Zoom, straight down the hill, across the road and into the harbour wall. Luckily unhurt and still fit for work, it took him a few years to pay off the damage and the fines for theft and driving under the influence haha.
