As for me, I'm an INFP-A (A for assertive, the opposite is T, turbulent)

INFP is "The Mediator". Description: sensitive, creative, idealistic, perceptive, caring, loyal. Value inner harmony and personal growth, focus on dreams and possibilities.

Cons: may be too sensitive, stuck in their own world

Yep, I'm a mediator and I don't like conflict. And yes, I'm a Feeler vs Thinker. So I agree with my MBTI results.

If you want to make a guess (educated guess) about the personality type of another person (partner, family, friend, enemy, frenemy, etc) here's a vid on how to recognize the types. (The vlogger also makes comedy sketches based on the 16 personalities.)

When you Google "MBTI personalities" there's this colored chart (with squares) that show the descriptions for each personality type. I can't upload it here. If someone could do that, you have my thanks. (TIA)

The problem is do we delude ourselves on the questionaire.
My father use to quote a poem from Robbie Burns that from memory goes, "would the gods the gift to gi' us, to see ourselves as others see us."

I would agree with some of the characterisations and disagree with others.
If that is 16 'Personalities' opinion of me based on the answers to a few questions who am I to disagree. It is an opinion. Other opinions are available

It reminded me of a management course I had to take very early on in my career. We were placed under an increasing amount of pressure during the week
culminating in the final late night assignment where each team member had to be publicly critiqued regarding their behaviour throughout the course.
The object being somewhat similar to the OP in that it was to highlight our personality traits

Everyone had to join in with their comment except the subject of that particular critique who had to remain silent throughout.
One team walked out, checked out of the hotel and returned home never to my knowledge to speak to one another again.
Two members of my team stood up almost nose to nose, almost coming to blows, discussing me.
To paraphrase their comments one thought I was the best thing since sliced bread while the other thought I was a dark stain on humanity.
I just sat there and laughed.

@Happy as Larry - some years ago, our company had this team-building seminar thingy wherein they hired external people to conduct/ facilitate the activity for us. The facilitators asked us to divide ourselves between introvert and extrovert. I think after the split, it was ~70% extrovert and ~30% introvert. When the extrovert group met on their side of the room, they were clapping, smiling, laughing, high-fiving each other.

While on the introvert side, we just sat on our plastic chairs and smiled awkwardly at each other. I was new to the company, so didn't know a lot of ppl then. I was surprised to see that one of our big bosses was in the introvert group. During the "small group" discussions, I was surprised to know how down to earth he was - he became more "human" in my eyes. The other big boss was in the extrovert group and after a few years, I could really see that he was an extrovert - bigger voice, gestures, charisma, etc. Very different management styles.

This thread brings back those memories. The extroverts in their corner were jumping & shouting, "Extrovert! Extrovert!". Good times.

I think many of my friends and colleagues would.

My management style is from within. I own the problems as much as those who need to fix them. I try to get workers and managers to believe they came up with the solutions while I am just part of the furniture. I don't have a title, certainly not a managerial one, I don't need one. I just get paid the most...

Mine came out ISFJ-A - Defender also.

A Defender (ISFJ) is someone with the Introverted, Observant, Feeling, and Judging personality traits. These people tend to be warm and unassuming in their own steady way. They’re efficient and responsible, giving careful attention to practical details in their daily lives.

The only thing I would disagree with in the summary, is that a Defender is reluctant to change. Me? Nah. I like change.

@reinvented - yeah, it's just for fun and for curiosity. I'm not here to debate on the effectiveness of Myers-Briggs or the 16 personalities test as assessment tools. It's just that MBTI is commonly used in schools and by HR people.

I just think it would be interesting to know the members' types. If/ when there are more answers, then I'll make a list of how many are intro- vs extraverts, how many of each type, etc.

This is not for a research project or work. I come to TD for fun/ banter. If it feels too technical (assessment, metrics, prior informed consent, etc) - then that's work and not fun anymore. Also, I'm not getting paid for this. Heh.

@ Katie. During the course of my career in management I had taken numerous tests like the one you linked as part of management training. The intent was to take the info in hopes of gaining an insight on how we behave. They are just tests. I took this one for fun.

Honestly they are all corporate mumbo jumbo in my opinion. Consultants have made millions and millions convincing medium to large companies they need the tool to develop their leadership core. I have taken so many of these in varying formats I can't remember but unfortunately you can't pass on attending the "Work Shop" haha.

@stumpy - yeah, whether you're a pleb, mid-level or high executive, if you're required by HR to do those workshops/ team-building activities, then you do them. As I've said previously, I (as a newbie) was once grouped with one of the big bosses - even he couldn't escape from the dictates of HR. (and that's why HR gets outsiders/ consultants to do these workshops so that the bigwigs can't moan. Lol.)

Also, I'm not surprised that @harry is against the test. He has his reasons, it is what it is, everyone has free will.
