^ There is a famous Muay Thai boxing training gym about 1 km from my place and I have farangs, who train there, run by me early every morning when I take my dog for a walk.

I also heed your warning about gambling and I think my missus has spoken to the top council guys here about our plans and she has their support.

I have also spoken to a number of musicians about their fees and whether the farangs have a work permit to play in Thailand.

Certainly a lot to consider and get legal advice on.

Huge endeavor mate but if done well will be worth it.
What you have in mind seems to be a Rock based venue like the very successful Jazz/Blues Saxophone Bar.

^ If you saw the layout it is 2 separate venues, 1 for the bar, and a connecting Venue for sports etc.

You don't have to pass through the bar to get to the Tennis Court as there is a side entry.

If I shut the sliding door that seperates the two venues you wouldn't know what was on the other side but I do want the bar patrons to know there is Tennis and other sports available if they wish to partake and I want the Tennis players to know there is a cold beer waiting for them after their match. There are also 6 separate showers/toilets as well so players can freshen up after their game.

So perhaps it’s more of a sports club with club house/kitchen.

^ I have the boss of the Pattaya Panthers say he would consider the Venue to be their team bar if I sponsored them and gave them a good deal.

He stops in regularly to buy my wife's pies.

I wonder if a monthly subscription for sports facilities might be a better business model?

Have you got space for badminton courts? They are popular.

if you are going down the Muay Thai route you might also want to consider cock fighting too.

    Air-con for sure
Pool table helps keep people there
Kareoke drives them away, unless it can be in private rooms
Swimming pool no unless a hotel bar
Cocktails a yes if you want people coming with actual money. Same can be said for premium beers.

Really though the fact is any bar set up you can think of has been done already so my advice is this:

    1. what is your objective, is it a hobby or do you want it to make money

    2. if its a hobby then fine, do what makes you happy and don't complain if you lose money and you close it within a year

    3. if you want to make money then you work out what your offer is? beer, food or both. The sports thing and pool aren't bar draws just expensive white elephants - just saying - look around if it was a draw someone would have done already.

    4. i assume your offering ain't walk in traffic.

    5. once you've decided on 3 then its time to look around and see what works and is similarly sited like yours i.e people will drive there. What draws them, whats the set up like food, beer and other offerings etc and bingo you have a model.

    6. Did i mention you won't come up with something new that works

The great thing about a tennis court is you can remove the net and you have a huge outdoor buffet area.

And yes we will have badminton and the new U.S Craze Pickle tennis. We are als putting a quite large putting green with lawn bowl Astro-turf which will have undulations to make it interesting. On special nights we also will have the Coyote Girls in as we have a bar 15 metres long and raised 1 metre high down the centre of the venue next to the pool. I have ordered 20 stools for the bar.

Regarding the food my wife is desperate for some help at the moment as orders are coming thick and fast and currently she is giving customers 3 days delivery.

Some are saying she is one of the best cooks in Pattaya and these comments are coming from people who have had businesses in Pattaya for over 30 years and know all the suppliers.

She is the jewel in the crown.

I think Norts mentioned some theme nights like a Trivia night. Our local club had poor showings on monday nights and introduced a trivia night. They regularly get 200 on a normally quiet monday night.
Maybe a selection of low and no alcohol beveridges such as low alcohol beer so those who dont need to be pissed to have a good time can have a few.
Maybe a comedy night with amateur comedians with a prize for the best on the night. How well that will attract people who are looking for a night out I dont know.
Anyway LT make sure you publish your address I will give it a go on my infrequent trips to Pattaya.
Especially if theres an AFL screen in the approaching season.555

Someone insignificant mentioned something about a children's charity event we sponsored before and yes we will be planning another soon after we have opened and ironed out any flaws.

Yes Hugh you are more then welcome and the first beer is on me and that goes to all T.D members.

We plan for 4 big screens and of course will have the AFL, NRL, Rugby, Cricket, Premier League Football and most of the important other global sporting events.

And finally if it works I will be very happy for my wife as she deserves it and if it doesn't I cannot say I didn't try something new. Fortunately we own our property and I have my other business to keep me occupied and pockets serviced.

Well I'm out then.. . Guess the clientele will be Aus and Brits drinking Fosters and Sugar beers. Us few mercans will have to find a new location.... ( Just poking fun at ya LT )

Btw, if you want to draw in some of us Mercans, I suggest a gun range...... HAHAHAHA

That's not such a silly idea.

Though really, axe throwing ranges are the hot thing right now.

Of course we will have the Superbowl and Gridiron and World Series Base Ball and all other American sports starting with Capitol Letters. As the time difference mightt mean I have to wake up early to make special wake up drinks.

For fuck sake I am not looking forward to this challenge!

Well there is NFL game pass, NBA League pass and MLB league pass. Good thing about the Pass subscription, you play them delayed to the audience. I doubt seriously anyone wants to get up at 2 or 3 am to watch a game. I use all 3 and personally never look at the score intentionally. I turn it on a descent and proper time and relax to watch the game. If I do not know the score, its a new game for me.

Better add Bloody Mary's to your drink menu and don't forget the fresh celery and Tabasco sauce.

Now that could be a fun one...axe or hatchet throwing. That should get some audience participation. Bet that would go off better than Muay Thai.

Already been done and you'd need some deep pockets to build a better facility than the oddly named Battle Mouse shooting range.
