    The TeakDOOR Smoking Lounge

I indulge in a naughty ciggie about once every 2 or 3 months

Rolling tobacco being my preference over stinky square fags

I don't add any wacky tabacky as it is not my thing

One of my favourite things is smoking with the movie projector on

It reminds of the cinema when I was a nipper. The beam of light shining out over the crowd was alive with the puffs of baccy smoke that filled the theatre

Do you still indulge in this dying(!) pastime?

I used to be a heavy smoker... started around age 14 at school and finished at age 36 in 2003.

I had my last cigarette on the back deck of a boat called the Normand Tonjer nearly 20 years ago as it left port in Haugesund, Norway, and then threw my pack of duty free Drum into the sea. I'd had enough. The stress of the thought of the health effect of heavily smoking Drum and Samsun roll-ups outweighed the stress they relieved.

I haven't had a single puff on anything in nearly 20 years and know that I never will again... and at one time I could roll a perfect roll-up one-handed while driving at 80 mph down the Motorway. First thing I did when I woke up was roll a ciggie, last thing at night he same. I used to wake up retching from the effects of smoking roll-ups. I won't even touch one now, for fear of starting again.

And after 20 years I still occasionally dream about smoking... and when I awake I sniff my fingers to re-assure myself it was just a dream. What a pervasive habit it is.

I smoked from a young age to my 40's. One evening, I started having severe chest pains. On waking up after being unconscious for a few days., the doctor came in and asked me if I smoked. He said, you smoke, you die. I've never smoked since. That was almost 20 years ago, but I do still occasionally crave a good cigar.

Yet another outstanding failure, demonstrating your brevity, and lack of wit.

    Well done for admitting it.

Ciz really wants to fire one up.
The old saying, nothing worse than an ex smoker.
I partake in a few rollies a day,no coughing issues since I stopped my ten a day Mayfair menthols.
Started at 25 and have mild asthma, but manage it through lots of lung expanding exercises.
I know it's bad,but who wants to live forever pissing and shitting it away in a care home and being a burden to their family.

That would probably sound quite appealing to those who've died of throat cancer, of which I've known two extremely well who'd both been heavy smokers their entire adult lives that died truly horrible deaths at around 60 years of age. That is definitely not the way you want to go, trust me

I was a smoker too for the longest of time starting as a teenager, everything from rollies (Drum) to Camel no filters, to B&H and occasional cigars to finally feeding my addiction thru e-cigs. Giving up was easily and by far the hardest physical thing I've ever done, and also the smartest things I've ever done too.

If someone wants to smoke these days that's fine by me, their life their choice and as long as we don't have to share the same enclosed space while they light-up its all good. The exception being kids, who can't yet process how dangerous it can be so they can make informed decisions on whether to smoke or not.

Same here. Started in high school on my Senior year, and quit in my early thirties. Have not smoked even one cigarette yet. I know one cigarette would not hurt, but I cant trust myself to keep it at that.

    *old joke alert*

I use those nicotine patches, they've really cut down my smoking.

You put them on your eyes then you can't find your cigs.

Started in my early teens and stopped a year or so back.

Don't feel any different, except I now realise how much you stink after a smoke.

Love the smell still BTW, and will stop in my tracks if someone is having a ciggie and I get a whiff of that second hand smoke.

^ I'm the same. I haven't had a single puff since the day I stopped in 2003 but still love the smell of an Old Holborn roll-up being smoked on a Winter's morning.

Or any roll-up from any tobacco... or the smell of a Malboro.

I love the smell of the smoke in the air and have no problem with people smoking around me, but I find the smell of someones breath after smoking pretty disgusting.

That is my poison of choice by coincidence. It is quite a uniquely perfumed smoke compared to the standard offerings.

I keep one of the old wrappers so I don't have to suffer the new warning graphics on the odd occasion I decide to curl one up.

They seem to be advising that if I keep it up I could end up with a set of little piggy's to rival the scariest that Isaan has to offer!

I am wondering if smoking cigars is maybe a safer way to keep this unique cultural activity alive even if ciggy smoking is going the way of the dinosaur

I have been reading about it. You don't inhale but the smoke is quite dense so you still get a nicotine hit from absorption through the lining of your mouth.

There is also a lot more flavour to savour according to the connoisseurs.

I am not really sure where to start though.
