    Hoover Recommendations

The maid has requested a new hoover, and to be honest, I'm wondering what took her so long.

However, I'm Scottish first and my reply to my Mrs is, you don't fkn need one cos all the floors are tiled and we have a broom and mop. However did we survive before I jokingly bought you a hoover for your birthday?

I'll skip the next part but all you need to know is that I lost.

So, looking for recommendations for a half decent to decent hoover that is available in Thailand that wont break the bank.

I do like the idea of the wall mounted cordless badboys but with a runtime of about 10 mins between charging it just wont cut the mustard as the maid only comes in once a week.

I also like those wee robot things but my kids just wont be able to leave it alone and there's probably too much toys n stuff lying around.

I'm also aware you may call it a vacuum cleaner but I call it a hoover!

    Any recommendations welcome.

    Cheers.
    Lang may yer lum reek...

The rechargable is great( we have one) because , you just pick it up and go whenever you feel like it or have a small mess, where with a plug in , you think twice about taking the thing out, unwinding cords etc.
But the plug in is much more powerful.
If you get a rechargeable get a good one, some of the inexpensive have no power.
The rechargeble is also good for cleaning the car.

As far as the robot ones, IMO are useless. We had one in the US , three or four years back , and after a while I just stopped using it, and it was a top brand, wifi enabled etc etc.
Perhaps now days they make the better.
First it would get hung up on charging wires or shews all the time,
Second , I would watch it heading for some dirt, and right before it got to it, it would turn.
Third it would start at the worst possible time and it made a lot of noise. I think they designed it to make a lot of noise , so that it would sound like it did something. Almost like me when U have to do work around the house LOL.
IMO it is only good for picking up dog hair, and light dirt.
    Don't waste your money.

We only omd a rechargeable, so cant help you with any info on a plug in vacuumed cleaner.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

BB. I don't know your price range but I would try the Hoover Floormate Jet. I brought over 2 Hoover Linux Stick vacuum cleaners from the states when we moved and 6 years later both are working outstanding. I would stay away from Bosch. My SIL bought one and says it doesn't work very good and it was a bit pricey. Of course Dyson product are available here.

Funny it took me about a year to convince my wife that those damn hand made rice stalk brooms leave behind more dirt and crap then they clean. I had to physically show her. I finally tossed them all out and said No More.

    Old habits die hard.

The cordless ones battery's are shite, at least the ones I can afford are. I expect a cordless Dyson would be decent. We generally keep it on charge until needed.

We had a robot too but it struggled to do any kind of half arsed job so has been removed for some time..

We make the daughter clean the stairs with a brush so that saves some electric.
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

That usually happens with those super cheap ones. My SIL started with some 1800 bht one. Some Chinese brand. I heard her telling my wife the battery lasted about 5 minutes and done and didn't clean well at all. The higher end ones work really well. We have a robot now that does a really great job and keep the floor and dust and debris up. You set up the map and it does its thing. When battery runs low, it goes home to charge, when charged, it launches again to clean the rest.

We are...sadly in some ways. But as DD said, this is an upside. Buy cheap, always replacing it and if it doesn't work, they will never use it. Get a good one and show how well it works its a win win. No different then sharing recipes in the Dinner thread. Funnily enough, very few on this site are gear heads. I'd much rather talk about Moto and truck mods and off road stuff but that isn't gonna happen. So vacuum cleaners it is.

Mop...who the hell uses a mop anymore? I use paper towels under my shoes and skate around the kitchen when I am done cooking. Mops are filthy. Didn't your Mom teach you anything? Its like a sponge.

Stumpy, I hate to get dragged in to such a thread, but we have carpets in the UK, so yes indeed, your extensive Hoover knowledge would be invaluable.

I've yet to visit a Thai household that doesn't mop the floor... and I hate myself for asking, Man Card relinquished, but how the hell do you clean your floors without a mop?

Hey Dirk go to HomePro online. The they an indoor/outdoor on sale for under 3000B. Its Electrolux and very similar to the same model we have from them. Had it for 12-15 years now. It sucks let me tell you. Great for floormats of cars as well. I use it on my Vios as I have cloth seats.

^^ I also have an floor cleaner, although he's not very 'auto' these days.

Shutree call's him a factotum. He's more commonly known as the gardener.

    And he uses a mop!

I know that versatile guy. Does the occasional weeding, Occasional tree trimming and occasional mopping. While I am out at the pool bar enjoying an Ice cold one, "Nancy" as my wife calls her, is roaming around whisking up the loose debris with the front brushes and then oscillating her scrub brushes with water to pick up the dust. Then "Nancy" heads back to home and the tower has a vacuum system and removes all the debris and dust into a bag.

My wife loves it as she can control it all from her tablet while shopping on Lazada...

My wife uses a flat mop thingy. We keep a couple of pieces of old towel to put on the bottom and then she washes the towels when needed. The maid uses it to also clean the walls and stuff when she visits.
