    Starbucks, What do you get?

Im tired of gas station coffee. The quality of it has been improved over the years. But still. It all has that same taste. I don't like Tims black coffee anymore either. McDonalds , A&W and Subway coffee is ok too.

But here i am at Starfucks. I got a hot brown sugar oat expresso. A medium was $6.00. It's pretty good actually.

I should dust off the old French press. I used to made strong ass shit with that. It's a bit too much work to clean up daily. If you leave the grounds in over a night or 2, it turns to sewer

More expensive than here... as are most things in BC. Only $5.80 here for a medium.
I like the decaf americanos at starbucks. Mcdonalds and Tim's are okay too.. Tim Hortons not so much anymore.
I have one caffeinated beverage a day, so decaf or regular Americano. The other drinks have a lot of sugar.
I get a stevia and a cream in my coffee.

The last Starbucks I went into was in Makati in the early noughties. Think it may have been the first and only time too. Overpriced, mediocre coffee- ooh but you can add hazelnut cordial, or whatever. M'ehhh..

Ubon Ratchathani actually has a coffee culture, due to it's Laotian proximity and influence. Some really good coffee shops there, real character, caring owners, much better coffee- and less than half the price of the perpetually mediocre, plastic Starbucks.

Why just once a day ? I just binge on it all day. Not sure how I'd get thru day to day life without it

Back in the late 90's and 000's, Starbucks kinda had a point. Gas station and fast food coffee was just bad. But now even gas stations have fresh brand name beans, flavor and all that shit.

But Starbucks has gone even more frilly and expensive for the yuppies. I'll admit that it was pretty good. But 6 bucks was too much.

That's in the states and Canada- in local terms, Starbucks is even more overpriced overseas. I consider it the Mcdonalds of coffee- but at least maccas is cheap.

    Starbucks is shit and expensive
always prefer local independent outlets but they are hit and miss, and some somewhat ambitious in their pricing in Bangkok

also avoid Amazon which has been seriously backsliding.

surprisingly good value are (in Bangkok but not locals) are Dunkin Donuts and Burger King.

Burger King is like 29THB for decent black coffee, and there is never anyone in there so can get some work done- while kids are mall ratting
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

Amazon when driving fan here. PTT stations normally have them and its a good stop. Good coffee, friendly staff and a nice area to fill up, stretch your legs, get a coffee, and maybe even eat something. Right around half the price of Starbucks which I avoid.

Never. Starbucks honestly is poor quality coffee and way overpriced. I used to, on rare occasions get their Matcha Green Tea in the states but it's powder base after having it here made from leaves through the espresso machine, I never visited the place again.

Starbucks here in Thailand is extremely expensive especially when you can stop at say Chao Doi or Inthanin and get a far better tasting coffee for just about $1.50. I find that the locals around Thailand make a great coffee too for about $1.

Amazon is clearly very convenient. Road trips I stop at BanChak gas stations and they have Inthanin and they make a really good green tea with milk. Their coffee is very good as well. ESSO stations are another stop and I am seeing more Chao Doi coffee shops in them. That's my personal favorite for coffee.

What is wrong with Amazon coffee? I don't know because I don't drink it.

If I could make decent beer or spirits in ten minutes then I wouldn't be buying it for the cost x10 anywhere.

    So, with coffee...

It has been years since I had a Starbucks coffee. I recall it as being overpriced and mediocre. In Thailand I usually drink Amazon. In the US I drink Pete's.

I agree with the others. Starbucks is way overpriced & not good coffee. I'm not much of a coffee person & drink a light (weak) one at home once a day. If I buy outside, I prefer to buy from small family-run businesses.

I think Starbucks, Tim's, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, etc, are for yuppies (and even non yuppies) who want to see & be seen - whether IRL or online (FB, Instagram, etc).

Yes, I have colleagues who post those stuff on facetubegram. <rolleyes>

Four stand-alone (ie not attached to a gas station) Amazon Cafes have opened in Chanthaburi city in the past two years, and one near us on the main road to the coast. Coffee Ok but prefer their fruit smoothies and Ms P goes for the green tea.

Best coffee in the province is and always has been, an owner-operated Doi Chaang franchise, established 12 years and seen many local competitors try and fail in that time, Doi Chaang trained - and a rarity here - really knows how to make a coffee.

We went to Sa Kaeo over NY and two new Amazon Cafes along Highway 317 near Soi Dao.

but it was the money invested in one just across the provincial border into SK . . . this one had the small lake, fountain, full-length outside balcony, tidy gardens, and the separate upstairs seating area to right of second pic.

A welcome break from the traffic

The problem with most Thai coffee places is that the person working there has no idea what a cup of coffee is. When I order one, they look downright confused. They understand 25 different coffee drinks, but are blank when you want a simple cup of coffee. I always end up with an Americano, which is just watered down espresso.
