Liquid goes to 5 and 6, which are blocked off and then rises just above 3 where there is a small lip that would pour it into 2

Most posts on Teakdoor represent a brain teaser to Chitty. He does well just to post.

I don't think so. Gravity would bring it to the underside of the pipe before it gets to the crudely drawn lip where it then runs down into 3.

Yeah, I see no reason why the gravy would run down along the top of the pipe and hit that lip and then drop into 2.

I reckon it would run down the sides of the vertical pipe and splatter on the table between 3 and 4.

The answer is cup number 2. As each section is filled/blocked the pipe leading to cup 3 has a gap that will create an overflow which will lead the water into cup number 2

Why would the liquid flow on top of #3 to flow into #2 and not spill all over the side and end up un the floor?

I can do it if I follow the instructions exactly.

without going through the same dot.

    Or...

I didn't go through the (last) dot, I stopped at it.
