Liquid goes to 5 and 6, which are blocked off and then rises just above 3 where there is a small lip that would pour it into 2

Yeah, I see no reason why the gravy would run down along the top of the pipe and hit that lip and then drop into 2.
I reckon it would run down the sides of the vertical pipe and splatter on the table between 3 and 4.
The answer is cup number 2. As each section is filled/blocked the pipe leading to cup 3 has a gap that will create an overflow which will lead the water into cup number 2
I can do it with five lines.
It’s an oldie but a goodie, very simple if you think outside of the square.
