CO, i don't think calling people jewish if you believe they wont donate is a good idea, a couple donated from the last huahin dog thread about 6 months to a year ago, they didn't mention it on the forum or anything like that, they just sent some dosh and that was the end of it, also people that donate to TeakDoor, most aint listed cos they don't want to be listed, we did set it up automatically that they got listed, then the bstards started sending emails on how to get the donate badge off of there profile thingy, so a lot of people that deep down are really nice don't actually want people to know they are nice people :)

I am sure that NR will already be familiar with this news item and it seems more relevant to post it here than in the news section.

Hua Hin Municipality to promulgate Municipal Law on dog(s) feeding or releasing
Supansa Klaiwaad

Mr. Siraphan Kamonpramote, the Hua Hin Mayor, revealed that recently Hua Hin Municipality had passed a measure to control the feeding or releasing of dogs within Hua Hin municipality zone to promote a proper standard of living for civilians as well as for preventing civilians from being in harms way due to annoyance and germs caused by dogs. To proceed such prevention, it required the enactment of the Hua Hin Municipality Law according to section 29 of Public Health Act B.E. 2535 (1992) and section 60 of Municipality Act B.E. 2496 (1953) with additional correction of the 5th copy B.E. 2510 (1967).

The draft of Municipality Law on dog(s) feeding or releasing B.E. 2550 (2007) was approved by the municipality council in the 2nd common meeting of 2007 on Monday 14th May, 2007, for being presented to the Prachuap Kirikhan Provincial Governor to consider and approve such a draft in further detail. The Municipality law covers dog(s) feeding, dog’s registration and dog(s) releasing.

Moreover, class 3, provision no. 19 says that if any dog owner desires not to feed and look after his dog anymore, he has to give his dog with its ID card to a new owner instead and the new owner has to notify his dog’s adoption to the Registration Department, Animal Disease Control Section, Division of Public Health and Environment or any other places informed by the Hua Hin Mayor within 30 days as counted from the adoption day.

In the case of no new owner, a dog’s owner has to give his dog to the Municipality and carry on paying for the responsibility of his dog providing the dog with food as declared by the Mayor. Furthermore, in the temporary clause, provision no. 28 says a dog’s owner can be exempted from paying money for the responsibility of his dog (as mentioned in provision no. 19) if he gives his dog to the Municipality within 180 days as counted from the effective date (Sept. 14th 2007) of Hua Hin Municipality Law.

Now, the Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Governor has already considered and approved the new law according to the authority of section 60 of Municipality Act B.E. 2496 (1953). From now on, the Municipality hereafter promulgates Municipal Law on dog(s) feeding or releasing of B.E. 2550 (2007) to be lawfully effective for civilians all over the Hua Hin Municipality zone.

It's done already. They are all routinely neutered. Much as I love pups, I'm not an idiot - no smartarse comments, please ;) - we neuter every dog that comes through our doors, whether it is to stay with us or be returned to its owner or its territory.

In response to Dougal's article (I did add a response on Saturday, but it disappeared into the ether & as my son was playing up in the internet cafe, I couldn't be arsed to write another), must admit it made me laugh. The tessadban pound routinely has its gates open and over 100 dogs wandering in the road, over to our compound & up to the temple. Also, when they dumped 30 odd pups on us, no ID cards were shown & certainly no food was given. Maybe the municipality should lead by example...:rolleyes:

On a more serious note, thought you might like an update.

Several animal rights orgs internationally are currently running appeals for HHDRC. No idea whether it is ever going to be a viable proposition, or not. We will reassess the situation in a few months when we know how everything stands. Some Thailand orgs met with me yesterday & put forward some propsitions, which I readily agreed to & we will work towards. I also let them know that I want out. I've had enough. Much as I love the dogs, I can't stand any more of the stress & worry or the politics or infighting, both within HH & in the animal rights "world". If the appeals are successful, they will be looking for a salaried Thai manager to replace me. I'll still volunteer until I move & other volunteers will still continue with what they do.

I'm getting my Mum's laptop. A guy from our local forum will be bringing it over to me in the next week or so, so I can stop using bloomin' internet cafes. :)

NR, your leaving and a Thai manager will probably be your replacement?

Firstly, thanks to Jizzybloke who wired the center some money & with whom I had a very funny chat on the phone. Also, I've received quite a lot in the HHDRC account (Thai bank) which I can't account for - anything to do with any of you guys? My mum's computer was delivered to me today, so no more internet cafes. I can sit here well into the evening & get pissed on Chang with you guys! Yay!! The fact that I'm back on crappy dial-up is a mere trifling annoyance. I'm chuffed to be back properly. Any ideas where to hide this thing when I go out, though???

^ Naah, they messed up the bedclothes, so must have been looking in there (unless they took a kip!!!). They went through the drawers & wardrobes too. I've got to think of somewhere safe. :(
