There is always space on teakdoor for another photo opportunity
Hiso? My $1 Shan noodles and a glass of my local red wine is about as hiso as I get tonight, because were I to travel into downtown Yangon for a decent meal, by the time I'm ready to come home, I would be risking some trigger-happy soldier shooting my kneecaps off for breaking the curfew.
These Shan noodles packs are actually quite tasty, and even my abysmal cooking skills can manage them.
Reminder to self: Employ young slim and female Burmese cook, live-in accommodation provided (shared room/bed). Must be able to care for frail (lol) gentleman (who TBH, is no longer a 'gentleman').
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile
i hope you aren't funding the despotic regime buying those
I try to check ownership of local foods before I buy it. Myanmar Beer (which is very tasty) has all but gone 'down the pan' because it is owned by a junta crony. It's not on sale anywhere, except probably in Naypyitaw. People have voted with their feet and shun any junta businesses, (which is quite difficult, since they have their sticky fingers in so many pies...)
Fair play to you being there and trying to help out during this time. I was in Nepal when the then King Gyanendra (last King) declared a state of emergency and had curfews backed by a shoot to kill policy due to the Maoist insurgency. As we were not allowed to carry arms ourselves we had to be escorted from our lodgings by Nepali Army soldiers and back daily. It didn't last long before he ceded power but it was difficult times for the ordinary Nepali, nowhere near as bad as the Myanmar regime.
