I don’t think any nation has a strangle hold on self deprecation or satire. Similarly no one nation stands out for taking themselves too seriously.

Some Americans do take themselves too seriously. Most of them are trumpanzee snowflakes and religious nutters.

Just about all of them have no sense of humor whatsoever.
