The NataChata chatbot that I wrote 20 years ago was feted by the BBC as a candidate to pass the Turing test (it can fool people into thinking that they are chatting with a real person).

(It performs better if you only talk about tits, bums, sex etc etc....)

Not that limited. It had over 100,000 words and phrases stored in it's database. It would 'remember' details about you. Eg - If it asked "What is your name?" it would store your answer (so long as it was a name in its database). Same for questions about hobbies, sport, food etc etc. So next time you sent a text message to the chatbot, it would say something like "Oh hi, that's Mike isn't it? I remember that you like Indian food and football!". It's surprising how many 'customers' assumed that the chatbot was a real person who had been bowled over by the previous conversation and remembered all about you...

The worst thing you could do was to try to argue or be abusive to my chatbot! That's because I had programmed it to return the abuse ten times over. No-one ever won an argument with that chatbot, and spent a lot of $$$ texting abuse at it and receiving equally-abusive replies, (such as about how small your dick was etc). Bound to get you to reply again
