    Ever Win Any Money Gambling?

I won a substantial amount at the casino last night. I was wondering if anyone here has won anything substantial like over $500 on Lottery tickets or at a casino and what did you end up doing with the money?

I have a few friends that like to gamble and the casino is about 15 mins from me. My friend wants to go back tonight, but I told her I don't want to lose the money I won. It would be nice to be able to pay bills with it.

I go to the casino about once every two to three months with a set amount and don't normally win too much. I was happy to win more than usual last night!

    What were you playing?

Yes, I've won "big" at both a casino and the dog track.

^Won it on one slot machine over a span of 2.5 hrs. My favorite slot machine actually. Started playing the minimum 75 cents, but then went up and played for 2.25$, and then max bet at 3.75 at one point. I was just lucky for once.

Awesome! I like playing blackjack and hearts online. I never play the tables though. More of a slot machine gal. So, I spent $100 and came out with $900 last night. I may go tonight, but not sure yet.

Well my friend who I don't see often may come into town and wants to go to the casino. She is a heavy hitter gambler which I am not. I may go and set a limit say of $100 just to be able to hang with her. There is also a huge bar/dance floor where bands play and it is a fun time!

Some yahoos are gonna claim they made the big bucks. Whether it's true is a different story. Most times when I go to the casino, ppl are bragging about how much they've lost

Wandered into a pub on the gold coast one evening, not somewhere I'd normally go but happened to be in the area, right next to where the mall meets the beach if that means anything, anyway, a lovely balmy night, a couple of ales, me and the gf lived a couple of blocks from there, anyway they had a kind of rolling lottery, meaning they sold tickets and if no one won that night the prize pool rolled over. so I bought a ticket or two and won $900. Some regular who'd been hoping to score and was quite pissed that some blow in should scoop the pool thought I should buy him and his friends a round because, well, I don't know, but fuck that guy

I knew someone who won £1600 on the slots on her first visit to a casino.

The worse thing that could possibly have happened.

She spent the next several years losing over £100,000 her family and her mental health.

A very long time ago, back in the early 80's, I was down to my last 50p on a Saturday afternoon, and was unable to take my girlfriend out that evening. I stuck it in the slot machine on camp, which had a £100 pay out limit and won £88. I managed to take her out after all. That was my luckiest day and I've never pushed my luck money-wise again.

I like Blackjack too but I never come out on top. I tend to play the Martingale system on Roulette if I'm in there bleezing but I would normally go to the casino for poker tournaments where I'm not that bothered if I lose because I enjoy to play.

The most I've won at the casino in a night is around £1,000 pounds which would have been 50,000 baht at the time.

I was on my way to cash in a football accumulator worth £5,000 and between the pub and the bookies Crawly Town had somehow conceded a 96th minute goal, bastards.

I won 350 AUD for Jade Goody dying on a Sunday and same again for Patrick Swayze dying on a Monday.

Many years ago when I lived in Calgary we used to go to the Harnes Racing evenings. My then wife worked for an owner of a few harness horses and exercised the horses and took care of the daily chores at his ranch.

Any visitors that came, we would take them to the Calgary Stampede Stadium. A walk around the stables to see the by now the highly strung horses sweating, stamping and whinnying to get onto the tack, a meal, seats taken and then the racing started.

Of course, we all bet on the races and, to our friends' astonishment, won quite well. They realised during the evening that, due to my wife's knowledge and knowing many of the stables owners and jockeys, we won a good percentage of our bets.

The knowledge was that of, the 8 racers, there were two or three jockeys of the 8 competing, who only drove for owners/stables most likely to win. Not always, but enough to pay for the evening's entertainment.

    The jockey's view:

In the early 2000s I won around $250 one night on the roulette at the Burswood Casino in Perth. My future wife was the croupier.

I would say that overall that night has cost me big financially.

Well done, that place is like Fort Knox to get into after a few jars.

I was in there one night and this pretty lass rocks up to me and asks if I have a lighter. Now, clearly the best place to ask for a light is outside in the smoking area so not only am I reading between the lines but her accent sounds the same as mine. So I accompany her out to the smoking area and we hit it off. Right enough, she's from Aberdeen.

After the 'Cas' we're in a taxi with a couple of her mates to some random flat to drink more when we stop at a 'servo' and her mate buys a box of Co2 canisters for refilling those soda stream machines. Next thing I know everyone's buzzing these things out of balloons. Fucked up.

Somehow the 2 of us end up back at my flat and in the middle of the night my flatmate bursts into my room, whips his dick out and starts pissing all over my bed, and us, side to side like he's trying to distinguish a fire. And he could have.

Can't remember if I won any money that night but they ripped me off on the green 0 on roulette. UK law says you get half your stake back. Oz? Nada.

Either Neo or Necron (I forget which) had the absolute hands down best casino thread in history.

i always go for fun, as MM says take an amount leave your cards at home and if you lose walk away. Black Jack you go as a team of 3 or 4 and play one table and cover the end position.

I thought the green zero was the acknowledged house edge

The low stake tables in Melbourne have a 0 and a 00 so the house edge is doubled from 2.7% to 5.3%

Never play the low stake tables

There are no 00 in UK roulette but if you're on the side bets you get half your stake back on the 0.

Depends, what is the minimum stake jump from a low stake (0+00) to a high stake (0) table?

Can't really remember. It was small like $2.50-$5 was low stake and $10+ was high stake.

Have not been interstate for a while with the covids. I was a gambling spectator only when I stay at the Crown Melbourne for business. Just used to go downstairs to the casino for the $10 steak dinner.
