    Is D.B.Cooper still alive?

The hijacker extorted $200,000 in ransom (equivalent to $1,338,000 in 2021), asked to be flown to Mexico City, then parachuted to an uncertain fate over southwestern Washington part-way through the second flight.

When I was sleepless in Seattle I met his squeeze Mini Cooper she'd been snubbed on Broke-Slack Mounting ,

Heard about him when at Uni way back in Gainesville

This case is as fishy as a wild salmon.
TDCSI is needed to crack this cold case.

if he is alive he would be in his 90s now and would have shrunk a bit
So I guess by now he would be a Mini Cooper.

There was a D.B. Cooper copycat in the Philippines once, and in true Philippines style he ticked all the boxes for getting the job done properly.

So he's hijacked the plane, relieved the passengers of their valuables, got the Pilot to descend low enough to make jumping possible, then got cold feet standing at the door with his loot and his escape plan depending on his home-made parachute. So one of the cabin crew has helped him on his merry way by shoving him out the door and the stupid cvnt was found splattered on the ground not long after

^Jumping (pushed) from a plane for the first time, after asking cabin crew if they had any tips on skydiving, with a home made 'chute, and a rip-cord fashioned from a curtain rail. What could possibly go wrong?

Jumping out a side door rather than the rear tail. The 727 was the only plane with that style of door. It was closed up forever after old DB caper.

^^The hijacker likely survived the fall/jump/push; landing in the mud, but drowned in the mud.

That has always been speculation to me. He lost his chute on the way down.

^You’re probably correct knowing the position his body was found in…..

The suspect's body was found in mud in a forested area in Real town, east of Manila, with only a hand and a leg sticking out, the police said.

but the drowning sounded better (surviving the impact only to drown).

The Sud Aviation Caravelle had the same style of door that could open in flight but was disabled in the same way as the B-727 after the Cooper affair.

The BAC 1-11 also had the same style exit, as did the DC-9, but I don't think either could be opened in flight in the same way as the Caravelle and 727.

I vaguely remember watching a documentary on the Cooper incident. I thought some of the money was recovered from a river bank but they never found the bulk of it, nor did they ever find DB Cooper's body.

    The BBC documentary...

There's a theory that a small part of the cash was left abandoned near a river bank to make it look like D.B.Cooper had died in the water with the remaining cash.

However, it appears he's been spotted recently sleeping rough near Brighton Pier

He is now 91 year old. I hear that someone made off with his Zimmer frame while he slept last night. The cruel bastards.

Robbing bastards, how the mighty have fallen.

He could be 70-80 years old, it's all speculative and no one knows jack shit really.
I personally would like to think he's on an Indian Island getting smashed on Ganja with Lord Lucan.

Ooh. I didn't know about the Filipino version/ copycat DB Cooper. It probably didn't make big headlines at that time - I don't remember it. I sympathise with the guy. He was mentally unstable - wife had an affair with a policeman & left him (still doesn't justify the hijacking).

The incident happened in 2000, so before 9/11. Airport security was lax then. During that time, well wishers could accompany passengers to the boarding gates (I think). I remember seeing those in old PH movies.

Re: DB Cooper, I watched the Buzzfeed docu last week. I was binging on Buzzfeed docus and it got recommended.

I first heard about DB Cooper from the series "Prison Break". One of the escapees, an elder guy, hinted that he was DB Cooper and he hid the stash somewhere.

The first jet I remember flying. Was about 7. So fun as it took off quite steeply compared to prop planes. I had flown the Comet as a baby but only have my parents stories to remember that one.

Nobody knows how old he is if he's still alive?

    It's just speculation?
